On 8 May 08 Corey W. Cowan, age 18, 540 Burnfield
Road, Little Hocking, reported he was driving to a friend’s
house when his father saw him and followed him. Outside his
friend’s home on Moody Ridge Road, Mr. Cowan said his
father, Marvin D. Cowan Jr., age 40, 960 McGill Road, Vincent,
confronted him for not calling and for disrespecting him. A
witness said she heard the elder Cowan slap his son at least
twice during the incident. Mr. Cowan, who has a prior domestic
violence conviction, admitted pushing and slapping his son.
As a result, Mr. Cowan was arrested for a felony charge of
domestic violence and transported to the Washington County
Jail.
On 8 Apr 08 Floyd W. Slonaker, age 61, 6355
State Route 260, New Matamoras, reported sometime during the
overnight hours between 6 and 7 May, an unknown suspect stole
his newly filled prescription bottle of hydrocodone. This case
remains under investigation (1207).
On 8 May 08 Danielle E. Collins, age 28, 27335
State Route 7 Lot 19, Marietta, reported when she arrived home
from work there were papers from her safe strewn about her
floor and her safe was missing. A neighbor later said she saw
three juveniles, all of whom she recognized, running toward
a nearby tree line with a white box. The juveniles left and
returned with an ax stolen from a nearby yard and forced open
the safe. Interviewed by Deputy Sheriff Travaglio in the presence
of their parents, the fourteen, twelve and ten year olds admitted
entering the residence because they needed money. They further
confessed to stealing $8 from inside the trailer, breaking
open the safe with an ax and then returned documents from inside
the safe to the residence. In consequence, Deputy Travaglio
requested summonses for the juveniles to appear in Juvenile
Court on delinquency charges related to felony offenses of
burglary, safecracking and possession of criminal tools.
the Sheriff’s
Office received the following warrants:
Kenneth A. Brewer, age 45, 159 C Shawnee Court,
Boaz, WV, for violating the terms of his probation by failing
to show proof of obtaining a valid operator’s license
or to serve three days in jail.
James L. Tingler, age 23, 3510 Oakview Road, Girard, OH, for
failing to appear for a probation violation hearing on 2 May
08.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Glenn Edward McKnight, age 46, 33227 Dye Ridge
Road, New Matamoras, for violating the terms of his probation,
a misdemeanor. McKnight was arrested at his residence by Probation
Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 8 May 08 at 3:25 pm.
Rusty Joe Carsey, age 26, 1919 Mineral Road, New Marshfield,
OH, for theft, a felony. Carsey was picked up at the Southeastern
Correctional Institution in Lancaster by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 May 08 at
5:11 pm.
Jamie Garfield Linley, age 19, 17111 Millschool Road, Guysville,
OH, for theft and for breaking and entering, both felonies.
Linley was picked up at the Southeastern Correctional Institution
in Lancaster by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 8 May 08 at 6:03 pm.
Mark Kane Schall, age 31, 6995 State Route 329, Guysville,
OH, for theft and for breaking and entering, both felonies.
Schall was picked up at the Pickaway Correctional Institution
by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 8 May 08 at 6:15 pm.
Jimmy Lee Stepp, age 24, 17111 Millschool Road, Guysville,
OH, for breaking and entering and theft, both felonies. Stepp
was picked up at the Pickaway Correctional Institution by Deputy
Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 8 May 08 at 6:26 pm.
Jerry Lee Noble, age 36, 17111 Millschool Road, Guysville,
OH, for breaking and entering, theft and tampering with evidence,
all felonies. Noble was picked up at the Pickaway Correctional
Institution by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 8 May 08 at 6:34 pm.
Marvin Delmar Cowan Jr., age 40, 960 McGill Road, Vincent,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Cowan was arrested at
his residence by Deputy Sheriff Staats and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 8 May 08 at 8:50 pm.
Martin Zane Adams, age 30, 708 Front Street Apt. 16, Marietta,
for domestic violence and for aggravated menacing, both misdemeanors.
Adams was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Nedeff of
the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 8
May 08 at 11:55 pm.
