On 7 May 08 Carma Schilling, age 40, 260 Ray
Harr Road, Beverly, reported she was in her Chrysler minivan
in the parking lot of the Lowell Duke coasting towards the
alley when she dropped her cellular phone. As she leaned over
to retrieve the phone Ms. Schilling said she struck a telephone
pole with the front of her vehicle. Ms. Schilling suffered
no injuries; her minivan sustained light damage (792).
On 7 May 08 Deputies and Detectives responded
to the report of a suicide attempt in Beverly. The seventy-four
year old victim’s wife stated her husband has been depressed
and when she heard a gunshot she rushed to a bedroom and saw
her husband with a wound to his head. Transported to Marietta
Memorial Hospital, the victim later succumbed to his injuries.
Though no foul play is suspected, this case remains open pending
the results of an autopsy (387, 1091, 1106).
On 7 May 08 an employee of the Washington
County Career Center, 21740 State Route 676, Marietta, reported
the carpet of the ISS classroom was damaged and had a large
stain in it. An investigation by Sgt. Stackpole concluded that
a student accidentally knocked over a bottle of padding compound
and caused the damage. The damage was unintentional, hence
this damaging complaint is closed as an unfounded.
On 7 May 08 Sgt. Stackpole filed a felony
delinquency by assault on a school teacher charge on a sixteen
year old Belpre resident. The charges allege that the Washington
County Career Center student was upset that a teacher asked
him to remove his headphones and punched the teacher with a
closed fist in retaliation.
On 7 May 08 Deputy Sheriff Tucker requested
a summons for a seventeen year old New Matamoras resident to
appear in Juvenile Court for delinquency by falsification and
forgery. Deputy Tucker’s affidavit alleges the teenager
forged the signatures of nurses and a doctor on hospital letterhead
and turned four such letters in to school officials for unexcused
absences on 2 Feb, 9 and 23 Apr and 5 May.
On 7 May 08 Deputy Sheriff Tucker responded
to the scene of death of a seventy-six year old Marietta resident.
The man’s death appears natural; no foul play is suspected.
On 7 May 08 a resident on DAV Road in Whipple
reported on 4 and 5 May he heard loud crashing noises at the
same time observed a Ford Aspire traveling at a high rate of
speed on the roadway. After learning from four neighbors that
their mailboxes were damaged, the complainant identified the
suspect vehicle parked at Marietta High School. This case remains
open pending the identification of the driver and passenger
in the vehicle (1106).

Barbara A. Flesher, age 55, 15725 State Route
821, Macksburg, for OVI, failure to control and for not wearing
a seat belt on 28 Apr 08.
Randall Shust, age 41, 8116 Salem Road, Athens, for issuing
a bad check for $684.80 to Smith Concrete on 28 Jan 08.
William J. Toncray, age 39, 908 Main Street Apt. B, Belpre,
for failure to comply with the order/signal of an officer on
29 Apr 08.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Daniel Kaye Armistead, age 46, 306 Putnam
Avenue Apt. F, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation,
a misdemeanor. Armistead was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman
Huffman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 7 May 08 at 12:50 am.
Tyson Chad Hill, age 26, 175 Goose Run Road,
Marietta, for theft and for possession of drugs, both felonies.
Hill was picked up at the Noble Correctional Institution by
Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 7 May 08 at 2:10 pm.
Melissa Jo Flesher, age 33, 2 Bay Pointe Drive,
Belpre, for a felony charge of violating the terms of her parole
and for
a misdemeanor charge of driving under a suspended license.
Flesher was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Stump of the Belpre
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 7 May 08 at 11:45 pm.
