On 26 Mar 08 Deputy Travaglio arrested Martin
D. Gibbs Jr., age 20, 809 ½ Front Street, Marietta,
for driving under an FRA suspended license and for driving
outside the marked lanes of travel. Deputy Travaglio stopped
Mr. Gibbs for driving 15 mph and weaving outside his lane on
State Route 60. Not under the influence of drugs or alcohol,
Mr. Gibbs stated he was nervous and not watching the road because
he was looking at the Deputy Travaglio’s cruiser in his
rearview mirror.
On 26 Mar 08 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio issued
a citation to John M. Langmeyer, age 34, 120 Ward Street, Marietta,
for driving under an FRA suspended license. Deputy Travaglio
stopped Mr. Langmeyer near milepost two on Interstate 77 in
Marietta.
On 26 Mar 08 Sgt. Stackpole and Deputy Sheriff
Travaglio conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Keith
A. Drake, age 21, 832 Ridge Street, Marietta, for committing
several traffic violations. Drake, who has three prior arrests
for driving under suspension, stated his license was suspended
and placed under arrest for the offense. During the stop Deputy
Travaglio performed a pat down for weapons on the back seat
passenger, identified as Matthew W. Clift, age 21, 307 ½ Third
Street, Marietta. Found in possession of a bag of marijuana,
Clift was arrested for possession of drugs and possession of
drug paraphernalia and along with Drake, was transported to
the Washington County Jail.
On 26 Mar 08 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio issued
a citation to Robert L. Jones, age 53, 832 Saint Marys Avenue,
Marietta, for not using a turn signal. Deputy Travaglio stopped
Mr. Jones after he abruptly turned without signaling from Putnam
Street onto Franklin Street in Marietta.
On 26 Mar 08 an employee of Peoples Bank of
Lowell, 300 Main Street, Lowell, reported after she refused
to divulge information to a caller over the phone, the caller
threatened to bomb the bank if he wasn’t given the information.
This case remains under investigation (1184).
On 26 Mar 08 Deputy Sheriffs Anderson and
Smeeks arrested Charles E. Thompson, age 40, 707 Phillips Street,
Marietta, for driving under a license suspended for a drug
conviction and Corey E. Singer, age 29, 1042 Hadley Lane, Marietta,
for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Mr. Thompson was the driver of a truck stopped by the Deputies
when Deputy Smeeks’ canine indicated the presence of
drugs in the vehicle. An ensuing search of Singer and the truck,
which he owns, resulted in the seizure of a needle and business
card holder, both with cocaine residue, and a cigar box containing
the Schedule IV drug Clonazepam.
On 26 Mar 08 Dave L. Florence, age 50, 1703
Staunton Avenue, Parkersburg, reported between 6 pm on 25 Mar
and 11 am the following morning an unknown suspect pried the
lock off his storage building on Bender Road and stole a Honda
high pressure water pump and a Yamaha motorcycle. This case
remains under investigation (707).
On 26 Mar 08 Deputy Sheriff Staats issued
a citation to Alexis D. Wood, age 19, 101 Sherry Drive, Marietta,
for failure to reinstate her operator’s license. Deputy
Staats stopped Ms. Wood at the intersection of Sixth and Greene
Streets in Marietta.
ATTEMPTED ESCAPE FROM WASHINGTON COUNTY JAIL
On 26 MAR 08 an investigation was commenced at the Washington
County Correctional Facility regarding an attempted escape
attempt by inmate Marc A. Crockett, age 27, 145 Rake Road,
Whipple, OH. A review of videos indicated Crockett removed
a metal door stop from a shower door and utilized that device
to chisel out a significant portion of a concrete block in
his individual cell block which was an outer wall in the facility.
Discovered during a routine shakedown, the cost to repair the
wall is estimated to be $1,700. Information supporting a second
degree felony charge of attempted escape and a fifth degree
felony charge of vandalism is being sent forward to the Washington
County Prosecutor for grand jury action. Crockett is currently
being held on numerous felony charges including a parole violation,
aggravated robbery and burglary.

Office received the following warrants:
Jesse S. Books, age 25, 136 Franklin Street,
Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation by failing
to show proof of making regular payments to the court.
Noal D. Quattlebaum, age 21, 85 Lang Farm Road, Marietta,
for failing to appear for a trial and a probation violation
hearing on 19 Mar 08.
Daniell J. Trace, age 20, 818 15th Street, Parkersburg, for
violating the terms of his probation by failing to show proof
of paying his fines in full by 2 Jan 08.
Dewayne Wilson, age 18, 731 Center Street, Beverly, for an
assault committed on 7 Mar 08.

Gibbs was arrested on State Route 60 near State Route 821 by
Deputy Sheriff Travaglio and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 26 Mar 08 at 1:40 am.
Darren Michael Edwards, age 41, 17991 State
Route 26, Reno, for violating the terms of his probation, a
misdemeanor. Edwards was arrested at the office of Probation
Officer Hamilton and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 26 Mar 08 at 9:35 am.
James Leonard Tingler Jr., age 23, 3510 Oakview Road, Girard,
OH, for violating the terms of his probation, a felony. Tingler
was picked up at SEPTA by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Mar 08 at 1:35
pm.
Laurie Beth Phan, age 26, 615 Montgomery Street Apt. 3, Marietta,
for failure to reinstate her operator’s license and for
operating a vehicle without license plates, both misdemeanors.
Phan was arrested at her residence by Patrolman Warden of the
Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 26 Mar 08 at 2:30 pm.
Kenneth Albert Ammell, age 24, 1212 North Street, Coolville,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Ammell turned himself
in to Patrolman Nedeff at the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Mar 08
at 3:30 pm.
Matthew Wayne Clift, age 21, 307 ½ Third Street, Marietta,
for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia,
both misdemeanors. Clift was arrested at the intersection of
Third and Putnam Streets in Marietta by Sgt. Stackpole of the
Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 26 Mar 08 at 8:00 pm.
Keith Allen Drake, age 21, 832 Ridge Street, Marietta, for
driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Drake was
arrested at the intersection of Third and Putnam Streets in
Marietta by Sgt. Stackpole of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26
Mar 08 at 8:00 pm.
Jennifer Sue Brickwedde, age 32, 409 Fearing Street, Marietta,
for three felony counts of trafficking in drugs. Brickwedde
was arrested on Harmar Street in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff
Hall and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Mar
08 at 8:25 pm.
Danny Burton, age 28, 612 Washington Square, Marietta, for
driving under a suspended license, possession of drugs and
possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors. Burton
was arrested at the intersection of Colegate Drive and Greene
Street in Marietta by Lt. Wilson of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26
Mar 08 at 8:45 pm.
Corey Enos Singer, age 29, 1042 Hadley Lane, Marietta, for
a felony charge of violating the terms of his probation and
for misdemeanor charges of possession of drugs and possession
of drug paraphernalia. Singer was arrested at the intersection
of Greene and Phillips Streets in Marietta by
Deputy Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 26 Mar 08 at 8:45 pm.
Charles Edward Thompson, age 40, 707 Phillips Street, Marietta,
for driving under a license suspended for a drug conviction,
a misdemeanor. Thompson was arrested at the intersection of
Greene and Phillips Streets in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Anderson
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Mar 08
at 8:45 pm.
Al Legrande Smith, age 28, 720 30th Street Apt. 4, Parkersburg,
for driving under a suspended license and for failure to appear
at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, both misdemeanors.
Smith was arrested in Belpre by Deputy Sheriff Staats and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 26 Mar 08 at 11:45 pm.
