On 16 Mar 07 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio investigated
a report of an intoxicated male operating a vehicle that was
stuck on railroad tracks in the vicinity of Muskingum River
Road. Locating the vehicle, Deputy Travaglio saw the driver,
Charles F. Simmons III, age 24, 19441 Circle Drive, Guysville,
passed out in the driver’s seat and the keys in the ignition.
When awakened, Mr. Simmons flailed his arms wildly, refused
to exit the vehicle and had to be forcibly removed and restrained.
Simmons, who had a strong odor of alcohol, claimed he was not
driving the vehicle and that he was only moving the vehicle
off the tracks. In possession of a marijuana pipe, Mr. Simmons
was charged with OVI, driving under a suspended license, reckless
operation, possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia
and disorderly conduct by intoxication. When transported to
the Washington County Jail, Simmons tested .166 BAC.
On 16 Mar 08 Deputy Sheriff Carr arrested
Christopher L. Smith, age 41, 625 Briggs Hill Road, Belpre,
for possession of drug paraphernalia. Investigating a domestic
dispute on Beach Drive where Mr. Smith was living, Deputy Carr
discovered two marijuana pipes, a scale, rolling papers and
marijuana seeds in items belonging to Mr. Smith.
On 16 Mar 08 James Cain, age 30, 11A Watertown
Road, Waterford, reported three tires and rims were stolen
from outside his residence between 1:30 and 4:30 that afternoon.
This case remains under investigation (1001).
On 16 Mar 08 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio issued
a citation to Christopher M. P. Estes, age 29, 109 County Road
12, Marietta, for operating a vehicle without a license, for
operating a vehicle with license plates that expired in June
2007 and for having a broken rear reflector. Deputy Travaglio
stopped Mr. Estes at the intersection of Hart and Greene Streets
in Marietta.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
John Christopher Fortney, age 19, 4350 State Route 530, Lowell,
for theft and for underage consumption of alcohol, both misdemeanors.
Fortney was arrested at the Locker Room in Marietta by Patrolman
Huffman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 16 Mar 08 at 1:00 am.
Scott Michael Zimmerman, age 28, 3929 Watertown Road, Waterford,
for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Zimmerman was arrested
at Quimby’s in Beverly by Deputy Sheriff Travaglio and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 Mar 08 at 1:55
am.
Corbett Eugene Pederson, age 34, 1007 Orchard Street Apt.
6, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Pederson
was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Blasko of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 16 Mar 08 at 2:34 am.
Peter Grant Hafner, age 18, 205 Gibbons Street Apt. B, Marietta,
for obstructing official business, possession of criminal tools
and for possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.
Hafner was arrested on Pike Street in Marietta by Patrolman
Kampmeier of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 16 Mar 08 at 4:00 am.

at 4:15 am.
Gerald Wayne Gary, age 34, 1637 ½ 19th Street, Parkersburg,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, for driving under a suspended license and for driving
a vehicle with expired registration, all misdemeanors. Gary
picked up in Belpre by Patrolman Ellenwood of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 16 Mar 08 at 2:55 pm.
Bobbie Sue Davis, age 24, Budget Motel Room 132, Belpre, for
theft, a misdemeanor. Davis was arrested at her residence by
Deputy Sheriff Travaglio and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 16 Mar 08 at 9:30 pm.
