STOLEN FIREARM RECOVERED, SUSPECTS ARRESTED
Following up on a report taken on 9 Mar 08 regarding a stolen
firearm, Sgt. Parks last night arrested and charged three area
residents. The gun’s owner, Clyde King, 15943 State Route
555, Cutler stated a .22 caliber Rough Rider handgun, a Ruger
.22 caliber cylinder and ammunition were stolen from his gun
cabinet sometime since June 2007.
Initially denying involvement, Mr. King’s step-son Bradley
Allen Divel, age 19, 2465 Graham Road, Cutler, later confessed
he stole the firearm from his step-father’s residence
in October of 2007 and kept the firearm hidden. Mr. Divel went
on to say he took the firearm on the grounds of Warren High
School in February and while in a class gave the firearm to
another student he identified as Angelo Vincent Knox, age 19,
3558 School House Road, Little Hocking. In possession of the
weapon, Knox stated he wanted to make money to buy jeans so
he arranged to sell the firearm to Wesley Dean Burrows, age
20, 1276 Moody Ridge Road, Vincent for around $40.
When interviewed, Burrows revealed the location of the stolen
firearm, ammunition and cylinder to Sgt. Parks and admitted
purchasing the weapon from Knox for $45 and stated he felt
it was a better than a fifty percent chance it was stolen when
he bought it. On parole for a previous charge of buying stolen
firearms, Burrows was arrested and charged with a fourth degree
felony of receiving stolen property.
For his involvement, Divel was charged with third and fifth
degree felonies of theft and illegal possession of a weapon
in a school zone. Knox, who stated that he did not initially
know the firearm was stolen but found out later, was charged
with fourth and fifth degree felonies of receiving stolen property
and illegal possession of a weapon in a school zone.
All three suspects are incarcerated without bond pending their
initial court appearance this afternoon.
