On 7 Mar 08 Deputy Sheriff Lockhart issued a citation to Brandon L. Moore, age 20, 935 Congelton Ridge Road, Wingett Run, for traveling 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Lockhart stopped Mr. Moore on State Route 7 near milepost thirty-two in Newport Township.

On 7 Mar 08 Deputy Sheriff Lockhart issued a citation to Gary M. Henthorn, age 38, 33205 State Route 800, New Matamoras, for driving under a license suspended for unpaid citations. Deputy Lockhart stopped Mr. Henthorn near milepost forty on State Route 7 in Grandview Township.

On 7 Mar 08 Deputy Sheriff Lockhart arrested Jestin Ray Davis, age 27, 1072 Leith Run Road, New Matamoras, for OVI. Stopping Mr. Davis for weaving in his lane of travel, Deputy Lockhart noticed an odor of alcohol and that Mr. Davis had glassy, bloodshot eyes. After he performed poorly on three field sobriety tests Mr. Davis was transported to the Washington County Jail where he refused a BAC test.

On 7 Mar 08 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio observed the driver vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, not stop at a stop sign, cut off oncoming traffic and swerving in his lane. Stopped on State Route 7, Scott A. Handschumaker, age 23, 335 Handschumaker Road, Marietta, stated he was driving erratically while goofing around with a friend. When Mr. Handschumaker exited the vehicle Deputy Travaglio noticed an open beer can on the floorboard and a pipe containing burnt marijuana in the ashtray. Also in possession of a bag of marijuana, Mr. Hanschumaker was arrested for possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless operation and for possessing an open container of alcohol and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 7 Mar 08 a sixteen year old Lowell resident reported being assaulted at the Washington County Career Center that afternoon. The teenager said a teacher was questioning him about a can of snuff someone placed behind his chair when Dewayne Wilson, age 18, 731 Center Street, Beverly, punched him four or five times. Interviewed at his residence, Wilson admitted he was “whaling” on the teenager with both hands because the student accused him of planting the snuff behind his chair. As a result, Deputy Sheriff Carr requested a summons for Mr. Wilson for assault.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Jestin Ray Davis, age 27, 1072 Leith Run Road, New Matamoras, for OVI, a misdemeanor. Davis was arrested on State Route 7 near Leith Run Road by Deputy Sheriff Lockhart and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Mar 08 at 1:15 am.

Michele Ann Summers, age 41, 2468 Jericho Road, Walker, WV, for driving under a suspended license, for driving outside the marked lanes of travel and for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, all misdemeanors. Summers was arrested on US 50 in Belpre by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Mar 08 at 3:15 am.

Jackie D. Buffington Jr., age 38, 20 Colegate Drive, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Buffington was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Blasko of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Mar 08 at 4:00 am.

Earl Thomas Jeffries Jr., age 52, Nilan Hill Road, Port Marian, OH, for trafficking in drugs, a felony. Jeffries was picked up at the North Central Regional Jail by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Mar 08 at 11:30 am.

Timothy Burl Huey, age 28, 324 Mill Street, Cumberland, OH, for felony charges of automobile theft and passing bad checks and for two misdemeanor charges of passing bad checks. Huey was picked up at the Noble Correctional Institution by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Mar 08 at 2:15 pm.

Darius Lagaun Evans, age 27, 1415 Ninth Street, Camden, NJ, for a felony charge of possession of drugs and for a misdemeanor charge of possession of criminal tools. Evans turned himself in to Patrolman Nedeff at the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Mar 08 at 2:45 pm.

Scott Allen Handschumaker, age 23, 335 Handschumaker Road, Marietta, for possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless operation, for possessing an open container of alcohol, for not wearing a seat belt and for having a cracked windshield, all misdemeanors. Handschumaker was arrested on State Route 7 near County House Lane by Deputy Sheriff Travaglio and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Mar 08 at 4:45 pm.

John Charles Heldman, age 53, 2307 Highland Ridge Road, Lowell, for contempt of a court order, a misdemeanor. Heldman was arrested at the courthouse by Deputy Sheriff Simmons and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Mar 08 at 4:45 pm.

Kevin Madrid Nipps, age 32, 1106 Lynn Street, Parkersburg, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Nipps was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Augenstein of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Mar 08 at 10:00 pm.

Ronald Lee Watson, age 63, 3735 Blue Knob Road, Marietta, for a felony charge of gross sexual imposition and for misdemeanor charges of possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Watson was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Mar 08 at 10:45 pm.
