On 28 Feb 08 Deputy Sheriff Mankins arrested
James W. Atkinson, age 27, Pine Run Road, Washington, WV, for
OVI and for driving left of center. Stopped for driving left
of center on State Route 555 on three occasions, Mr. Atkinson
stated he drank five beers at a bar earlier in the evening.
Performing poorly on field sobriety tests, Mr. Atkinson tested
.096 BAC when transported to the Washington County Jail.
On 28 Feb 08 Deputy Sheriff Simmons requested
a summons for a twelve year old Marietta resident to appear
in Juvenile Court for being unruly. The child’s mother
stated her daughter continuously throws tantrums, threatens
her younger sister, refuses to get out of bed and to go to
school and has damaged walls in their house.
SUSPECT IN THREE BURGLARIES ARRESTED
On 28 Feb 08 Deputies began an investigation into daytime
burglaries that occurred at 4951 Braun Road, Belpre; 2050 Farson
Street, Belpre; and 3569 Veto Road, Vincent. At the Veto Road
address, the homeowner was present and observed an unknown
male break the kitchen window. The homeowner saw the suspect,
later identified as Matthew A. McCoy, age 18, 324 Clark Street,
Belmont, WV, and then observed him along with two other suspects,
run to a vehicle parked in his driveway. Identifying McCoy
from the license plate the homeowner recorded, Deputy Smeeks
interviewed him the following day. During the interview McCoy
gave a detailed statement, confessing to breaking into all
three residences. McCoy further confirmed that items were taken
from the other residences and identified his two co-conspirators.
Consequently, McCoy was arrested for three felony counts of
burglary and transported to the Washington County Jail. Charges
on McCoy’s accomplices, one of whom is a juvenile, are
anticipated in the near future.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
James William Atkinson, age 27, 520 Pine Run
Road, Williamstown, for OVI and for driving left of center,
both misdemeanors. Atkinson was arrested on State Route 555
by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 28 Feb 08 at 2:35 am.
Thomas Robert Buffington, age 24, 8282 Highland
Ridge Road, Lowell, a fugitive from justice. Buffington was
arrested at Washington State Community College by Deputy Sheriff
Simmons and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28
Feb 08 at 3:46 pm.
Richard Earl Thompson, age 44, 518 County House Lane, Marietta,
for engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a felony. Thompson
was picked up at the Noble Correctional Institution by Deputy
Sheriff Underwood and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 28 Feb 08 at 4:12 pm.
Anthony Jordan Youngblood, age 19, 309 Scammel Street Apt.
B, Marietta, for trafficking in drugs, tampering with evidence
and for possession of drugs, all felonies. Youngblood was arrested
on Greene Street in Marietta by Patrolman Newell of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 28 Feb 08 at 6:34 pm.
John David Ragalyi, age 21, 616 Masonic Park Road Apt. 1,
Marietta, for two felony counts of trafficking in drugs. Ragalyi
was arrested on Colegate Drive in Marietta by Patrolman Caldwell
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 28 Feb 08 at 6:52 pm.
