On 21 Feb 08 an employee of Bartlett Farmers
Bank, State Route 339, Barlow, reported a patron cashed a check
for $3,500 that was later determined to be fraudulent. Sgt.
Brockmeier determined the patron who cashed the check was also
a victim, as she received the check as part of an online Nigerian
fraud scheme. Sgt. Brockmeier forwarded this case to the Ohio
Attorney General’s Office for further investigation.
On 21 Feb 08 Cathy Anderson, age 45, 181 Cave
Hill Road, Little Hocking, reported she noticed what she believed
to be a wound from her BB gun below her cat’s ear. Deputy
Sheriff Anderson (no relation) was unable to substantiate Ms.
Anderson’s claim or identify any suspects and closed
this case as unfounded.
On 21 Feb 08 an employee of American Electric
Power reported sometime since 7 Feb an unknown suspect(s) cut
through a chain link fence, cut the padlock off a building
and stole 600 feet of copper ground wire from a power substation
at 394 Gravel Bank Road, Marietta. This case remains under
investigation (610, 1293).
On 21 Feb 08 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks arrested
Robert N. Barber, age 30, 500 13th Street Apt. 201, Parkersburg,
for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Stopping Mr. Barber’s vehicle for having illegal window
tint, Deputy Smeeks’ canine indicated the presence of
drugs. The resulting search yielded a glass pipe, a marijuana
roach and a small amount of marijuana wrapped in a receipt.
When questioned, Mr. Barber confirmed the contraband was his.
On 21 Feb 08 the owner of Guernsey Scrap Recycling,
827 West Street, Cambridge, reported a thirty-eight foot scrap
metal container is missing from the bridge construction site.
The owner said a driver left the container at the site on 1
Feb and as of 18 Feb its whereabouts are unknown. This case
remains under investigation (200).
On 21 Feb 08 Hillarie N. Daly, age 20, 1415
Barth Road, Belpre, reported her Blackberry Smartphone was
stole while she attended a party at a residence in Little Hocking.
This case remains under investigation (200).

Angel B. Jackson, age 25, 8 Sixth Street,
Belpre, for failing to appear for pretrial on 8 Jan 08.
Joshua R. Uppole, age 24, 1928 Worthington Street, Parkersburg,
for violating the terms of his probation by failing to appear
for a scheduled appointment.
Dana B. Curry, age 35, 1005 State Route 555, Little Hocking,
for violating the terms of his probation.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
April Ruth Hill, age 31, 216 Main Street, Lowell, for domestic
violence and for two counts of passing bad checks, all misdemeanors.
Hill was arrested at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Mankins
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Feb 08
at 1:14 am.
Anthony Ray Hart, age 27, 218 Main Street Apt. 1, Lowell,
for violating the terms of his parole, a misdemeanor. Hart
was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Feb 08 at 1:50
am.
Chase Grant Demoss, age 21, Route 9 Box 209, Davisville, WV,
for disorderly conduct by fighting, a misdemeanor. Demoss was
arrested on Greene Street in Marietta by Patrolman Kampmeier
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 21 Feb 08 at 2:55 am.
Scott Alex Huxley, age 24, 1421 Lancaster
Street Apt. 101G, Marietta, for violating the terms of his
probation, a misdemeanor. Huxley was arrested at the office
of Probation Officer Hamilton and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 21 Feb 08 at 9:15 am.
Trenton James Shriner, age 27, 211 Montgomery Street Apt.
B, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Shriner was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Feb 08
at 9:15 am.
Robert Nathaniel Barber, age 30, 500 13th Street Apt. 201,
Parkersburg, fort possession of drugs and possession of drug
paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Barber was arrested on US
50 near State Route 555 by Deputy Sheriff Anderson and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 21 Feb 08 at 10:50 am.
Michael Edward Kerns II, age 32, 60 Waverly Acres, Waverly,
WV, for contempt of a court order, a misdemeanor. Kerns was
arrested on US 50 near State Route 555 by Deputy Sheriff Smeeks
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Feb 08
at 10:50 am.
Brenda Leann Miller, age 40, 1001 Colonial Terrace Apt. B,
Marietta, for violating the terms of her probation, a misdemeanor.
Miller was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Hamilton
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Feb 08
at 1:25 pm.
Wesley Russell Lloyd, age 38, 15764 Blank Pike, Wapakoneta,
OH, for unlawful sexual conduct with a misdemeanor. Lloyd was
Picked up at the Auglaize County Jail by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Feb 08
at 5:30 pm.
