On 2 Feb 07 Deputy Sheriff Norman arrested
Steven S. Bingler, age 40, 207 Clark Drive, Marietta, for disorderly
conduct by intoxication. Earlier in the evening Mr. Bingler’s
sister reported finding a suicide note written by her husband
and that he was in a shed with a motorcycle running. Located
sleeping and intoxicated at a friend’s home, Mr. Bingler
stated he was not suicidal and that he only wanted attention.
On 2 Feb 08 Deputy Sheriff Staats issued a
citation to Joseph C. Flaherty, age 24, 3885 Waterford Road,
Waterford, for traveling 69 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Staats
stopped Mr. Flaherty on State Route 60 near milepost eight
in Muskingum Township.
On 2 Feb 07 Brandy Lake, age 26, 15295 State
Route 60, Lowell, reported being assaulted by her live-in boyfriend
Clarence Wriston III, age 33. Ms. Lake stated her boyfriend
was angry that she did not want to leave their friend’s
residence, grabbed her hair and threw her to the ground. Determining
Ms. Lake was in fear for her safety, Deputy Sheriff Norman
requested a warrant for Mr. Wriston for domestic violence.
On 2 Feb 08 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued a
citation to Alex R. Enderle, age 19, 2760 Paflinger Road, Bexley,
OH, for traveling 70 mph in a 50 mph zone. Deputy Smeeks stopped
Mr. Enderle on State Route 7 near milepost eight in Belpre
Township.
On 2 Feb 08 Deputy Sheriff Staats issued a
minor misdemeanor citation to David A. Mullins II, age 32,
1173 White Oak Road, Gallipolis, for possession of marijuana.
Deputy Staats stopped Mr. Mullins for speeding on US 50 and
discovered a marijuana joint after a canine indicated the presence
of drugs in the vehicle.
On 2 Feb 08 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio arrested
Denver S. Bird, age 32, 38686 State Route 7, Newport, for OVI,
driving under an FRA suspended license, failure to signal,
possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and for
using a weapon while intoxicated. Stopped for numerous traffic
violations, Mr. Bird had an odor of alcohol and his vehicle
an odor of marijuana. While taking inventory of Mr. Bird’s
car after his arrest, Deputy Travaglio discovered two marijuana
pipes in the center console and a 9 mm handgun and .22 caliber
rifle in the trunk.
On 2 Feb 08, observing a vehicle speeding
and operating suspiciously when the driver noticed his cruiser,
Deputy Sheriff Smeeks conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle
driven by Matthew Steven Tieman, age 19, 13684 Spring Street
Apt. D, Burton, OH. Deputy Smeeks noticed Mr. Tieman and his
passenger both appeared extremely nervous and performed an
external sniff of the vehicle with his canine. With his canine
Dutch indicating the presence of drugs in the vehicle, Deputy
Smeeks searched the passenger compartment and in a duffle bag
found a bag of marijuana and a metal belt buckle that concealed
a small quantity of cocaine. Stuffed in the driver side air
vent Deputy Smeeks also found a marijuana pipe. As a result,
Deputy Smeeks arrested Mr. Tieman for possession of cocaine,
possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia
and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
COCAINE, MARIJUANA SEIZED
On 2 Feb 08 Deputy Sheriff Norman of the
Washington County Sheriff’s Office Drug Interdiction Criminal Enforcement
(DICE) team conducted a traffic stop on Muskingum Drive near
IGA on a vehicle that had an inoperable license plate light.
Called to the scene of the stop, Deputy Mankins had his canine
unit Aboo sniff the exterior of the vehicle for the presence
of drugs. Aboo indicated the presence of drugs, prompting a
search of the vehicle. The front passenger of the vehicle,
Ronald Fisher, age 33, 129 ½ E. Spring Street, Marietta,
stated there were drugs in the vehicle and that the bag of
marijuana under the driver’s seat belonged to him. Thereafter,
the Deputies located a gallon sized freezer bag containing
368 grams (12.98 ounces) that Fisher said he just purchased
in McConnelsville.
Fisher, who is currently out on bond pending an indictment
for drug trafficking, was arrested for a felony charge of possession
of drugs and transported to the Washington County Jail. Subsequent
to being processed into the jail, Fisher was also discovered
to be in possession of a substance later identified as powder
cocaine. Fisher indicated he had smuggled the cocaine into
the detention facility concealed near a lower body cavity.
The 21 grams of cocaine (.75 ounces) were placed into evidence
and Fisher was additionally charged with illegally conveying
items into a detention facility. Fisher has posted bond and
will appear in Marietta Municipal Court at a later date.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
John Allen McDaniel, age 43, 11455 State Route 571, Laura,
OH, for criminal trespassing and for disorderly conduct by
intoxication, both misdemeanors. McDaniel was arrested on the
campus of Marietta College by Officer Ruble of the Marietta
College Police Department and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 2 Feb 08 at 12:24 am.
Ronald Wayne Fisher, age 33, 129 ½ E. Spring Street,
Marietta, for possession of drugs, a felony. Fisher was arrested
on Muskingum Drive in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Norman and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Feb 08 at 1:09
am.
Steven Shawn Bingler, age 40, 207 Clark Drive, Marietta, for
disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Bingler
was arrested in Devola by Deputy Sheriff Norman and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 2 Feb 08 at 4:13 am.
Denver Shannon Bird, age 32, 38686 State Route 7, Newport,
for OVI, driving under an FRA suspended license, failure to
signal, possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia
and for using a weapon while intoxicated, all misdemeanors.
Bird was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Travaglio
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Feb 08 at
5:25 pm.
Matthew Steven Tieman, age 19, 13684 Spring Street Apt. D,
Burton, OH, for a felony charge of possession of drugs and
for misdemeanor charges of possession of drugs and possession
of drug paraphernalia. Tieman was arrested on US 50 in Belpre
by Deputy Sheriff Staats and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 2 Feb 08 at 7:10 pm.
