On 1 Feb 08 Deputy Sheriff Anderson issued
a citation to Aaron S. Bryan, age 25, 2101 Pennsylvania Avenue,
Parkersburg, for driving under a suspended license. Deputy
Anderson stopped Mr. Bryan on State Route 339 near Veto Road
in Dunham Township.
On 1 Feb 08 Deputy Sheriff Mankins conducted
a traffic stop after the driver of a truck nearly struck his
cruiser when it traveled left of center on Warrior Drive. Deputy
Mankins’ canine indicated the presence of drugs in the
truck driven by James D. Reed Sr., age 50, 2000 Cow Run Road,
Marietta. A pat down of Mr. Reed for weapons yielded a straw
containing a white residue that Mr. Reed stated he used to
snort crushed Oxycodone. As a result, Deputy Mankins arrested
Mr. Reed for tampering with drugs, for driving left of center,
for driving under a suspended license and for possession of
drug paraphernalia and transported him to the Washington County
Jail.
On 1 Feb 08 Ruth Erb, age 56, 217 Fourth Street,
Lowell, reported her daughter Amanda Sampe, age 27, was upset
following an argument over money and causing a disturbance.
During the dispute Ms. Sampe ripped a necklace from around
her mother’s neck and hit her father in the back with
a phone. Mr. and Mrs. Erb both said they feared for their safety
at the time and also will be scared for their safety when Ms.
Sampe is released from jail. At the time of her arrest Ms.
Sampe refused to cooperate with Deputies Staats and Travaglio
and screamed profanities as she was escorted from the home.
In consequence, Ms. Sampe was arrested for two counts of domestic
violence, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct and transported
her to the Washington County Jail.
COCAINE, MARIJUANA SEIZED; DEALER ARRESTED
As part of an investigation into the sale of drugs at Marietta
Mills apartments, Detectives of the Sheriff’s Office
Narcotics Unit last night arrested Stephen A. Butler, age 23,
736 Greene Street, Marietta, for trafficking in cocaine and
trafficking in marijuana. While arresting Butler, Detectives
smelled marijuana and observed drug-related items in the apartment.
To further investigate Detectives obtained a search warrant
and returned to the apartment. With the assistance of a Detective
from the Marietta City Police Department, Narcotics Unit Detectives
conducted a search of the apartment. Recovered during the search
were numerous items indicative of drug trafficking as well
as two computers, 13.7 grams of cocaine, marijuana, mushrooms,
scales, drug paraphernalia and $590.
Butler is incarcerated in the Washington County Jail pending
his initial appearance in Marietta Municipal Court. Additional
charges on Butler and an accomplice may be forthcoming.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Stephen Robert Wheeler, age 20, Marietta,
for a felony charge of burglary and for misdemeanor charges
of failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines,
possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear. Wheeler
was arrested on Pike Street in Marietta by Patrolman Nedeff
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 1 Feb 08 at 2:53 am.
Amanda Jo Sampe, age 27, 217 Fourth Street,
Lowell, for resisting arrest, for violating the terms of her
probation, for disorderly conduct by fighting and for two counts
of domestic violence, all misdemeanors. Sampe was arrested
at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Travaglio and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 1 Feb 08 at 10:38 am.
James Dean Reed Sr., age 50, 2000 Cow Run Road, Marietta,
for tampering with drugs, for driving left of center, for driving
under a suspended license, for possession of drug paraphernalia
and for violating the terms of his probation, all misdemeanors.
Reed was arrested in Barlow by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 1 Feb 08 at 11:06 am.
James Martin Thompson, age 28, 706 Second Street, New Matamoras,
for contempt of a court order, a misdemeanor. Thompson was
arrested on Fourth Street by Deputy Sheriff Travaglio and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 1 Feb 08 at 1:24 pm.
Stephen Lanise McRhea, age 45, 122 Harmar Street, Marietta,
for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. McRhea was arrested
on Front Street in Marietta by Patrolman Hickey of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 1 Feb 08 at 9:08 pm.
