On 17 Dec 07 an employee of Hocking Tire Center,
166 Tower Road, Little Hocking, reported a customer wrote a
check for $143.17 for the purchase of tires on 6 Jul 07 and
the check was returned for insufficient funds. This case remains
under investigation (1090).
On 17 Dec 07 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued
a citation to Douglas L. Blair, age 36, 124 Walker Street,
Marietta, for failure to obey a traffic control device. Deputy
Mankins conducted the traffic stop after Mr. Blair failed to
stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Quarry and Seventh
Streets in Pioneer Township.
On 17 Dec 07 Tracy J. Barnes, age 28, 830
Saint Marys Avenue, Marietta, reported being assaulted by Denzel
Michael Jeffers, age 22, 836 Pike Street Apt. 16, Marietta,
in the parking lot of Sierra Apartments. Ms. Barnes stated
she her mother and Mr. Jeffers were arguing over a previous
incident when Mr. Jeffers made personal insults and threatened
to kill her mother. Stepping between the warring factions,
Ms. Barnes said Mr. Jeffers grabbed her by the throat, spit
in her face and shoved her into a car. Unable to substantiate
a claim of self-defense, Deputy Morris arrested Mr. Jeffers
for assault and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
On 17 Dec 07 Jessica L. Van Meenen, age 20,
570 High Street, Macksburg, reported sometime during the past
three weeks an unknown suspect(s) stole two amplifiers, speakers
and air ride components from her vehicle while parked and awaiting
repairs at 14983 State Route 26, Newport. This case remains
under investigation (1184).
On 17 Dec 07 Bob Lane, age 62, 545 Rummer
Lane, Marietta, reported sometime overnight a spool of copper
welding lead and numerous scrap bushings, a total value of
$1,300, were stolen from his business at 5151 Warren Chapel
Road, Marietta. This case remains under investigation (945).
On 17 Sgt. Stackpole requested a summons for
Jennifer Lance, age 31, 225 State Route 7, Coolville, for passing
bad checks. Ms. Lance issued a check for $363.37 to Hocking
Tire Center on 17 Sep 07 and the check was later returned for
having non-sufficient funds.
On 17 Dec 07 an employee of Reno Area Water,
170 Mount Tom Road, Marietta, reported on 21 Sep 07 the business
received a check for $102 that was later returned because it
was written on a closed account. This case remains under investigation
(8411).
On 17 Dec 07 Clarence W. Waite, age 78, 1250
Tabor Ridge Road, Stockport, reported he believes a neighbor
shot two donkeys that escaped from his fenced property on 13
Nov 07. Interviewing the neighbor, identified as James H. Ball,
age 60, 540 Tabor Ridge Road, Stockport, Sgt. Brockmeier learned
there are frequent problems with Mr. Waite’s animals
escaping. During this incident, Mr. Ball said he feared for
the safety of his dogs with the donkeys in his dog pen and
fired a .40 handgun at them. This further agitated the donkeys
and he fired the weapon again to protect his dogs. The donkeys
fled, with one of them dying shortly thereafter. Mr. Ball said
when he located the other donkey it appeared to be in distress
and he shot it for humane reasons. As a result of Mr. Ball’s
actions, Sgt. Brockmeier requested a summons for him for injuring
animals.
SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING AND
FURNISHING MARIJUANA TO A 12 YEAR OLD
On 17 Dec 07 a Marietta resident reported to the Sheriff’s
Office Narcotics Unit that her twelve year old son informed
her that his uncle, Andrew Britton, age 20, 1045 Sandhill Road
Lot 26, Marietta, forced him to smoke marijuana while he stayed
at his residence between 14 and 16 Dec. The juvenile stated
Mr. Britton lit a marijuana cigarette and gave it to him and
when he did not smoke it; his uncle began calling him derogatory
names until he began smoking the marijuana cigarette. Following
the report, Narcotic’s Detectives executed a search warrant
at the defendant’s residence and seized a safe containing
marijuana, scales, pills, and a notebook containing names of
individuals who owed money. When questioned, Britton admitted
giving a marijuana cigarette to his nephew but denied forcing
him to smoke it. Britton also admitted that he has been selling
marijuana to several individuals. As a result, Britton was
placed under arrest for corrupting another with drugs and drug
trafficking and transported to the Washington Co. Jail.

Tony Winfield Menefee, age 32, 2116 Miller
Avenue, Belpre, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Menefee was arrested at his
residence by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 17 Dec 07 at 12:10 am.
Randal Maurice Nalle, age 38, 116 Walker Street,
Marietta, for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor.
Nalle was arrested on State Route 60 in by Sgt. Parks of the
Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 17 Dec 07 at 12:39 am.
Britney Ann Perrera, age 21, 736 Greene Street
Apt. 16, Marietta, for violating the terms of her probation,
a misdemeanor. Perrera was arrested at the office of Probation
Officer Ferrell and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 17 Dec 07 at 5:15 pm.
Christopher Lee Perry, age 22, Route 2 Box
52A, Harrisville, WV, for trafficking in drugs, a felony. Perry
was picked up
at the Pre-Release Center in Columbus by Deputy Sheriff Underwood
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Dec 07
at 5:40
pm.
Denzel Michael Jeffers, age 22, 836 Pike Street Apt. 16, Marietta,
for assault, a misdemeanor. Jeffers was arrested at his residence
by Deputy Sheriff Morris and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 17 Dec 07 at 8:33 pm.
Joshua Aaron Snyder, age 25, 732 Braun Road, Belpre, for violating
the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Snyder was arrested
at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 17 Dec 07 at 11:19 pm.
