On 11 Dec 07 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio responded to the scene of death of a seventy year old Newport resident. The woman’s death appears natural; no foul play is suspected.

On 11 Dec 07 a nineteen year old Whipple resident reported he began receiving harassing text messages in the beginning of September and later the messages progressed to be threatening in nature. The victim stated the suspect then began demanding money and he sent the suspect a total of $730 via four moneygrams. This case remains under investigation (296).

On 11 Dec 07 a fifteen year old Belpre resident reported during an argument his father head butted him and cut his lip. Investigating, Deputy Sheriff Spencer learned the father was attempting to confiscate his son’s cell phone as punishment for poor grades. The teenager resisted and as the father attempted to get the phone out of his son’s pocket he accidentally injured him.

On 11 Dec 07 Christopher G. Archer, age 36, 278 Oakmont Drive, Belpre, reported he sold a hot tub to an individual on 24 Nov and that the $2,000 check the purchaser issued as partial payment was returned for insufficient funds. This case remains under investigation (8411).

On 11 Dec 07 Julia S. Cottrell, age 21, 1045 Ridgewood Boulevard, Belpre, reported being in fear for her safety after her adoptive father Stephen, age 43, slapped her the previous evening. Ms. Cottrell stated her father smelled of vodka, yelled at her for over four hours and slapped her. Family members interviewed by Deputy Sheriff Reynolds corroborated Ms. Cottrell’s story, saying Mr. Cottrell verbally abused his daughter for hours. As a result, Deputy Reynolds arrested Mr. Cottrell for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

Herman J. Fickisen, age 47, 52 N Fulton Avenue, Newark, OH, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $1,584.70.

Jeremy L. Moore, age 29, 1230 South Lane, Urbana, OH, for failure to appear for a hearing on 3 Dec 07.

Timothy W. Wickersham, age 27, 25790 McNichols Road, Racine, OH, for failure to appear to serve ten days in jail on 3 Dec 07.

Michael Williams, age 31, 736 Second Street, Marietta, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on an order to show cause on 3 Dec 07.

Nathan W. Davis, age 20, 263 Linton Hill Road, Coolville, for violating the terms of his probation by failing to appear for a scheduled appointment and for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $585.

Katie Caplinger, age 18, 5380 Johnson Ridge Road, Waterford, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $409.50.

James A. Draggo, age 26, 639 Newark Acres, Elizabeth, WV, for violating the terms of his probation by failing to appear to serve three days in jail and for failing to show proof of obtaining a valid operator’s license.

Jessica L. Estep, age 21, 1305 Blennerhassett Avenue, Belpre, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $377.50.

Jason L. Ferry, age 27, 252 Carib Avenue, Dayton, IN, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $435.50.

Sherry L. Fox, age 37, 742 Boulevard Drive, Belpre, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $257.40.

Jeffrey A. Friesner, age 33, 352 Witte Street, Lancaster, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $516.10.

Anna B. Kline, age 26, 692 Jackson Street, Nelsonville, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $328.90.

Dustin L. McKnight, age 22, 919 ½ Belford Street, Caldwell, for violating the terms of his probation by failing to show proof of obtaining a valid operator’s license or to serve three days in jail.

Stephen R. Wheeler, age 19, 406 S Sarwil Drive, Canal Winchester, OH, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $188.50.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Michael David Blind, age 28, 1253 Sealy Ridge Road, Vincent, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Blind was arrested on State Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Dec 07 at 4:28 pm.

Stephen Garrett Cottrell, age 43, 1045 Ridgewood Boulevard, Belpre, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Cottrell was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Reynolds and processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Dec 07 at 6:50 pm.

Brian Keith Bunting, age 51, 710 Washington Boulevard, Belpre, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Bunting was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Augenstein of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Dec 07 at 8:15 pm.
