On 4 Dec 07 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued a
citation to Kelli L. Ballard, age 48, 115 Brick Street, Pomeroy,
for traveling 80 mph in a 60 mph zone. Deputy Smeeks stopped
Ms. Ballard near milepost one on US 50 in Belpre Township.
On 4 Dec 07 an employee of CVS, 131 Third
Street, Marietta, reported a male subject entered the store,
approached the alcohol section and exited the store with a
large bulge in his sweatshirt. On Third Street Deputy Sheriff
Travaglio located the suspect, identified as John C. Fortney,
age 18, 4350 State Route 530, Lowell, and arrested him on an
active warrant for domestic violence. Deputy Travaglio found
and confiscated a bottle of Southern Comfort from Mr. Fortney’s
pocket. Mr. Fortney admitted stealing the liqueur from CVS,
was charged with theft and transported to the Washington County
Jail.
On 4 Dec 07 a resident on Lover’s Lane
in Marietta, reported a location off the roadway was being
used as a dumpsite. Viewing the sit, Sgt. Brockmeier observe
over twenty trash bags, numerous tires and baby clothing. This
case remains under investigation.
On 4 Dec 07 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes issued a
citation to Teresa L. Valentine, age 28, 704 Elm Street Apt.
11, Belpre, for operating a vehicle without a license. Deputy
Rhodes stopped Ms. Valentine at the intersection of Farson
Street and Norris Avenue in Belpre Township.
On 4 Dec 07 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued a
citation to Emily M. Mizer, age 19, 19333 Van Haven Boulevard
Apt. 209, Shaker Heights, OH, for traveling 76 mph in a 50
mph zone. Deputy Smeeks stopped Ms. Mizer near milepost eight
on US 50 in Belpre Township.
MARIJUANA SUPPLIER ARRESTED, 8 POUNDS SEIZED
During the summer of 2007, Task Force Agents developed an
informant who indicated he has been purchasing large quantities
of marijuana from Charles A. Cremeans, age 62, 5099 Wildman
Road, Coolville, for the past fifteen years. Estimates of the
amounts historically purchased from Cremeans are 3,900 pounds
of marijuana at a purchase price of $780,000.
Following a buy-bust involving the purchase of five pounds
of marijuana for $10,950, Agents executed a search warrant
at Cremeans’ residence. Evidence recovered from the residence
included over 200 grams of marijuana, bag sealer, storage bags,
freezer bags, digital scales and documents. Also recovered
were eight guns, which were a weapons violation due to the
fact, Cremeans had a drug conviction in West Virginia in 1983.
Agents also received permission to search a storage unit utilized
by Cremeans and seized eight pounds of individually packaged
marijuana.
Cremeans was arrested on third degree felony charges of trafficking
in drugs, possession of drugs and having weapons while under
disability. He was later released from the Southeastern Ohio
Regional Jail after posting bond.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
John Thomas Williams, age 48, 40704 Sunfish Creek, Beallsville,
for possession of drugs and for possession of drug paraphernalia,
both misdemeanors. Williams was arrested on State Route 7 by
Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 3 Dec 07 at 7:41 pm.
Justin Bryce Davis, age 25, 112 Paul Street, Woodsfield, for
failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines,
a misdemeanor. Davis was picked up in Monroe County by Deputy
Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 4 Dec 07 at 12:13 am.
Michael Eric Searls, age 27, 238 Mulberry Avenue, Pomeroy,
for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Searls
was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Kirby of the Belpre City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 4 Dec 07 at 4:30 am.
Donald Ray Meador, age 57, PO Box 28, New
Matamoras, for OVI, a misdemeanor. Meador was arrested on State
Route 7 by Probation Officer Brockmeier and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 4 Dec 07 at 8:50 am.
Maryann Reagan, age 40, 241 Rochelle Street, Pittsburgh, PA,
for driving under a suspended license and for speeding, both
misdemeanors. Reagan was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio
State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 4 Dec 07 at 1:55 pm.
Marc Anthony Crockett, age 27, 145 Rake Road, Whipple, for
a felony charge of violating the terms of his parole and a
misdemeanor charge of failure to appear at a court ordered
hearing on unpaid fines. Crockett was arrested by Probation
Officer Carson and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 4 Dec 07 at 3:32 pm.
John Christopher Fortney, age 18, 4350 State Route 530, Lowell,
for theft and for domestic violence, both misdemeanors. Fortney
was arrested on Third Street in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff
Travaglio and processed into the Washington County Jail on
4 Dec 07 at 7:00 pm.
Justin Keith Blanton, age 19, Fourth Street, Marietta, for
violating the terms of a protection order, a misdemeanor. Blanton
was arrested on the Marietta College campus by Officer Travaglio
of the Marietta College Police Department and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 4 Dec 07 at 11:00 pm.
