On 28 Oct 07 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio issued
a citation to Peter A. Bowersock, age 22, 25675 State Route
26, New Matamoras, for not wearing a seat belt. Deputy Travaglio
stopped Mr. Bowersock on State Route 821 at Dye Road in Muskingum
Township.
On 28 Oct 07 Deputy Sheriff Johnson requested
a warrant for Phillip C. Hughes, age 22, 148 Woodland Avenue,
Marietta, for violating the terms of a protection order. The
party protected by the order, Roseann Adams, age 21, 20440
State Route 60, Beverly, stated she has ignored transgressions
of the order in the past but today she felt threatened after
receiving two text messages and two voicemails from Mr. Hughes.
On 28 Oct 07 Charles J. Burton, age 25, 1320
Drag Strip Road, Belpre, reported witnessing a neighbor stealing
a length of electrical cord and dragging it to his home. Interviewed
by Deputy Sheriff Carr, the suspect stated he took the cord
because Mr. Burton owed him $10 and would return it when the
funds were paid. The suspect elected to return the cord to
Mr. Burton, who declined to pursue charges. It is not known
if the $10 was paid.
On 28 Oct 07 David E. Wine, age 33, 40 Jay
Drive, Gallipolis, reported sometime during the past week an
unknown suspect(s) drilled through the lock of a storage building
on his property at 705 Wallace Road, Little Hocking, and stole
a Yamaha Timberwolf ATV. This case remains under investigation
(200).
On 28 Oct 07 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks requested
a warrant for Joshua C. Sinkfield, age 35, 111 Hart Street
Apt. 2, Marietta, for obstructing official business. A passenger
in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation, Mr. Sinkfield
gave a false name to avoid being arrested for active warrants
from Athens and Washington counties. Mr. Sinkfield did however
avoid arrest by fleeing across a busy street and absconding
into the darkness of night.
On 28 Oct 07 an employee of Gary’s Towing,
1409 Pike Street, Marietta, reported when he arrived at work
that morning he observed the business’ office door was
forced open and that the suspect(s) who entered the business
also attempted to pry open a cash register drawer. No property
was reported missing. This case remains under investigation
(1106).
The following individual
wAS processed into the Washington County Jail:
Dennis Ray Oakley, age 27, 101 Franklin Street,
Marietta, for domestic violence and for resisting arrest, both
misdemeanors. Oakley was arrested at his residence by Patrolman
Wenzel of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 28 Oct 07 at 11:20 pm.
