On 18 Sep 07 Connie Morgan, age 43, 309 Simpson
Street, Marietta, reported a bull belonging to her neighbor
escaped its enclosure, was damaging her yard and eating her
flowers. The bull’s owner arrived on the scene and corralled
the bull back to its pen. This case remains under investigation
(790, 792).
On 18 Sep 07 Brad Cozzens, age 27, 1717 Mitchell’s
Lane, Marietta, reported while he and his wife were away during
the day an unknown suspect(s) entered their residence and stole
a gold ring valued at $150 and a jar containing $60 in change.
This case remains under investigation (945).
On 18 Sep 07 the owner of Turner’s One
Stop, 18971 State Route 339, Waterford, reported he believes
an employee was stealing items from the store. The owner said
he looked in the bed of the truck belonging to his employee
named Jeffrey A. Engle, age 46, 200 Maple Grove Road, Waterford,
and saw a box containing a thirty-five pound bottle of vegetable
oil, sliced ham, roast beef, vinyl gloves, sugar, dish liquid,
nine cans of energy drink and two boxes of sandwich bags. Questioned
by Deputy Smeeks, Mr. Engle admitted taking the items and stated
he also took similar items in the past. As a result, Deputy
Smeeks requested a summons for Mr. Engle for theft.
On 18 Sep 07 Lt. Wilson issued a citation
to Gary E. Wilson, age 53, 11467 Pleasant Road, Athens, for
driving under a suspended license. Lt. Wilson stopped Mr. Wilson
near the intersection of Putnam and Fourth Streets in Marietta.
On 18 Sep 07 Lt. Wilson issued a citation
to Karin L. Davidson, age 41, 914 Warren Street, Marietta,
for driving with tags that expired in February 2006. Lt. Wilson
stopped Ms. Davidson near the intersection of Second and Marion
Streets in Marietta.
On 19 Sep 07 Detective Hiatt issued a citation
to Kevin O. Ford, age 37, 27150 State Route 7, Marietta, for
driving under a suspended license and for driving with a temporary
tag that expired in June 2007. Detective Hiatt stopped Mr.
Ford on the 900 block of Pike Street in Marietta.
MAJOR CRIMES TASK FORCE
During February 2007, Major Crimes Task Force Agents in conjunction
with the Marietta Police Department utilized undercover operatives
inside the Locker Room Bar on Greene Street in Marietta. Over
that time period the undercover operative had several contacts
with Darran L. Wedington Jr., age 20, 241 Muskingum Drive,
Marietta. On two of these occasions Wedington sold a white
powder purported to be cocaine to the undercover operative.
Both substances were tested and found not to be a controlled
substance but were sold and represented to be cocaine. Wedington
was arrested and charged with trafficking in a counterfeit
controlled substance. He is currently incarcerated in the Washington
County Jail pending an appearance in Marietta Municipal Court.
The following individual
was processed into the Washington County Jail:
Darran Lamont Wedington, age 20, 241 Muskingum
Drive, Marietta, for two felony counts of trafficking in a
counterfeit controlled substance. Wedington was arrested at
Influent by Lt. Canavan of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 18
Sep 07 at 6:29 pm.
