On 14 Sep 07 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio issued
a citation to William H. Eblen, age 41, 6025 Boneta Road, Merina,
OH, for improper passing. Deputy Travaglio stopped Mr. Eblen
after he nearly struck his cruiser when passing near a blind
curve on State Route 7 in Newport Township.
On 14 Sep 07 Deputy Sheriff Carr arrested
Michael J. Brown, age 48, 1216 Williamson Avenue Apt. A, New
Matamoras, for OVI, operating a vehicle without a license and
for driving with expired tags. Stopped for not using a turn
signal, Mr. Brown and his passenger quickly exited their vehicle
and entered Mr. Brown’s apartment. When questioned, Mr.
Brown stated “cops make me nervous” and admitted
drinking three beers that evening. Mr. Brown subsequently submitted
to field sobriety tests with poor results. When transported
to the Washington County Jail Mr. Brown tested .140 BAC.
On 14 Sep 07 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes issued
a citation to John D. Sweeney, age 25, 4008 Brandeberry Road,
Coolville, for traveling 74 mph in a 60 mph zone. Deputy Rhodes
stopped Mr. Sweeney on US 50 at Federal Road in Belpre Township.
On 14 Sep 07 an employee of Armstrong Steel,
50 S. Fourth Street, Newark, OH, reported three empty oxygen
tanks used for acetylene torches were stolen from the Lowell
Bridge construction site sometime overnight. This case remains
under investigation (953).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Matthew Floyd Hanshaw, age 31, 2713 Erin Avenue, Cleveland,
for unauthorized use of a vehicle, for possessing an open container
of alcohol, OVI, driving under a suspended license, speeding
and for driving left of center, all misdemeanors. Hanshaw was
arrested on Matthew Street in Marietta by Patrolman Nedeff
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 14 Sep 07 at 2:40 am.
Carl Nelson Robison, age 39, 121 ½ Greene Street, Marietta,
for possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Robison
was arrested on Pike Street by the Ohio State Highway Patrol
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Sep 07
at 3:20 am.
Corey Lee Smearman, age 19, 830 Fourth Street, Marietta, for
violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Smearman
was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Hamilton and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Sep 07 at 9:11
am.
Stephen Chaz Vansickle, age 24, 2547 16th
Avenue, Parkersburg, for theft and for for counts of forgery,
all felonies. Vansickle was picked up in Huttonsville, WV by
Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 14 Sep 07 at 3:49 pm.
Michael Joseph Brown, age 48, 1216 Williamson Avenue Apt.
A, New Matamoras, for OVI, operating a vehicle without a license
and for driving with expired tags, all misdemeanors. Brown
was arrested on Williamson Avenue by Deputy Sheriff Carr and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Sep 07 at 4:00
pm.
David Andrew Wheeler, age 29, PO Box 1, Huttonsville, WV,
for burglary and for two counts off theft, all felonies. Wheeler
was picked up in Huttonsville, WV by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Sep 07
at 4:08 pm.
George Douglas Farmer, age 50, 804 Front Street, Marietta,
for gross sexual imposition, a felony. Farmer was arrested
at his residence by Detective Hawkins of the Marietta City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 14 Sep 07 at 4:50 pm.
