On 18 Aug 07 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued
a citation to Anthony J. Perkins, age 39, 215 Fourth Street,
Marietta, for failing to reinstate his operator’s license.
Deputy Mankins stopped Mr. Perkins on Fourth Street in Waterford
Township.
On 18 Aug 07 the owner of Ruth Pools and Spa,
1818 ½ Washington Boulevard, Belpre, reported between
11 am and 1 pm on 14 Aug $1,200 was stolen from the console
of his vehicle while it was parked at the business. This case
remains under investigation (1090, 707).
On 18 Aug 07 Deputy Sheriff Morris issued
a citation to Hoyt T. Adkins III, age 21, 782 Glendale Road,
Marietta, for traveling 71 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Morris
stopped Mr. Adkins near milepost thirty-seven on State Route
7 in Newport Township.
On 18 Aug 07 an employee of Hocking Tire Center,
166 Tower Road, Little Hocking, reported a customer wrote a
check for $134.61 on 21 May 07 and the check was returned for
non-sufficient funds. This case remains under investigation
(1090, 707).
On 18 Aug 07 Lt. Wilson issued a citation
to Tina M. Sims, age 43, 11870 Veto Road, Marietta, for driving
under a suspended license. Lt. Wilson stopped Ms. Sims near
Joe Skinner Road on State Route 7 in Dunham Township.
On 18 Aug 07 Paul M. Blake, age 42, 3227 School
House Road, Little Hocking, reported watching his neighbor
Jason L. Bartimus, age 31, 3200 School House Road, walk onto
his property and enter his barn. Moments later Mr. Blake saw
Mr. Bartimus exit the barn with a wooden bear magazine holder,
walk onto his porch, pick up a silver radio and return to his
property. Contacted by Deputy Sheriff Norman, Mr. Bartimus
admitted and apologized for stealing the items and led Deputy
Norman to the property’s location in his trailer. As
a result of Mr. Bartimus’ actions, Deputy Norman arrested
him for breaking and entering and transported him to the Washington
County Jail.
On 18 Aug 07 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes issued
a citation to Nathan J. Camp, age 21, 25 Bliss Avenue, Little
Hocking, for operating with plates that expired in May 2007.
Deputy Rhodes stopped Mr. Camp on US 50 near Gantsville Road
in Belpre Township.
On 18 Aug 07 Christina Bailey, age 31, 4055
Patten Mills Road, Stockport, reported her husband William,
age 28, shoved her over a chair in their living room, causing
her to sustain a cut and large bruise on her arm. Ms. Bailey
stated she confronted her husband about his extra-marital affair
and he pushed her during the ensuing argument. Mr. Bailey fled
before the arrival of Deputy Sheriff Staats and threw a cement
block on the windshield of his wife’s vehicle prior to
his departure. Deputy Rhodes located Mr. Bailey later in Marietta,
arrested him for domestic violence and transported him to the
Washington County Jail.
On 18 Aug 07 Donald L. Jenkins, age 46, 1600
State Route 550, Bartlett, reported he was mowing grass at
Shawd Field on Roberts Road when he was assaulted by Steven
H. Smathers, age 49, 88 Roberts Road, Amesville. During his
investigation Deputy Rhodes determined there is an ongoing
property dispute involving Mr. Smathers and the adjacent field
and that Mr. Smathers accosted Mr. Jenkins and claimed he was
trespassing onto his property. Mr. Smathers pulled Mr. Jenkins
off the riding mower, tore his shirt and caused two abrasions
on the chest of Mr. Jenkins. Determining Mr. Jenkins did not
trespass, Deputy Rhodes requested a summons for Mr. Smathers
for assault.
SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR RAPE OF 12 YEAR OLD CHILD
On Saturday August 18, 2007 Deputy Sheriff Simmons was dispatched
to a residence in Beverly to meet with a concerned father regarding
his missing twelve year old daughter. The daughter informed
her father she was going to the Waterford Fair with a relative
and would be spending the night with her aunt. When the child
failed to arrive at the aunt’s home a search was initiated
by the father and aunt. The child was found at 912 Park Street,
Beverly, unclothed in bed, asleep, with Brandon M. Hall, age
22. When questioned, Hall admitted to engaging in several sexual
acts with the child, including intercourse. Hall is being held
without bond pending his initial court appearance in Marietta
Municipal Court on Monday.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Elmer Dewitt Harvey Jr., age 29, 3590 River Road, Zanesville,
for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, for violating the
terms of a protection order, criminal trespassing, for driving
under an FRA suspended license and for failure to appear at
a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, all misdemeanors.
Harvey was arrested at the Locker Room in Marietta by Patrolman
McCracken of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 18 Aug 07 at 2:00 am.
Kathy Marie Bowman, age 33, 120 Walker Street Apt. 1, Marietta,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Bowman was arrested on Front Street in
Marietta by Patrolman Huffman of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 18 Aug 07
at 2:43 am.
Jason Lee Bartimus, age 31, 2228 Sealy Ridge Road, Vincent,
for breaking and entering, a felony. Bartimus was arrested
t his residence by Deputy Sheriff Norman and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 18 Aug 07 at 7:15 am.
Brandon Michael Hall, age 22, 316 Park Avenue, Beverly, for
rape, a felony. Hall was arrested at his residence by Deputy
Sheriff Simmons and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 18 Aug 07 at 10:05 am.
Tina Marie Sims, age 43, 11870 Veto Road, Marietta, for driving
under a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Sims was arrested
on State Route 7 in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Stackpole and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 18 Aug 07 at 1:55
pm.
William Chevelle Bailey, age 28, 4055 Patten Mills Road, Stockport,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Bailey was arrested on
Seventh Street in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Staats and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 18 Aug 07 at 5:33 pm.
Rhonda Sue Martin, age 44, 126 Franklin Street, Marietta,
for driving under an FRA suspended license and for not wearing
a seat belt, both misdemeanors. Martin was arrested on Virginia
Street in Marietta by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 18 Aug 07 at 6:24 pm.
Dallas Willey Farnsworth, age 34, 122 Harmar Street, Marietta,
for a felony charge of receiving stolen property and a misdemeanor
charge of using a weapon while intoxicated. Farnsworth was
arrested on Barber Street in Marietta by Patrolman Hilverding
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 18 Aug 07 at 8:11 pm.
Rushan Laqwan Thornton, age 22, 956 Chatfield Street, Jamestown,
NC, for speeding, driving under a suspended license, possession
of drugs and for carrying a concealed weapon, all misdemeanors.
Thornton was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 18
Aug 07 at 8:33 pm.
Clarence Otto Jeffers II, age 44, 107 Muskingum Drive, Marietta,
for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Jeffers
was arrested on behalf of Probation Officer Brockmeier and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 18 07 at 8:35
pm.
Elizabeth Mae Shaffer, age 22, 63 Dunn Lane, New Matamoras,
for obstructing official business and for resisting arrest,
both misdemeanors. Shaffer was arrested on Dunn Lane in New
Matamoras by Chief Bourne of the New Matamoras Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 18 Aug 07
at 8:45 pm.
Troy Eugene Lightfritz, age 21, 833 Ridge Street, Marietta,
for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Lightfritz
was arrested at the Four Seasons in Marietta by Patrolman McCracken
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 18 Aug 07 at 10:38 pm.
