On 10 Aug 07 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued
a citation to a seventeen year old Whipple resident for traveling
77 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Smeeks stopped the juvenile
near milepost four on State Route 821 in Fearing Township.
On 10 Aug 07 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued
a citation to Richard H. Haught Jr., age 47, 513 Smith Street,
Marietta, for operating with a license that expired in 2003
and for driving a vehicle with tags that expired in June 2005.
Deputy Smeeks stopped Mr. Haught on the 300 block of Third
Street in Marietta.
On 10 Aug 07 a Little Hocking resident reported
after arguing with his fifteen year old daughter for several
hours she consumed ten of a family member’s sleeping
pills. The juvenile was transported to Camden Clark Hospital
for treatment and evaluation (586).
On 10 Aug 07 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued
a minor misdemeanor citation to Devin R. Schneider, age 21,
218 Lehigh Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls, OH, for possession of marijuana.
Deputy Smeeks stopped Mr. Schneider for following another vehicle
too closely on Interstate 77 and his canine indicated the presence
of drugs in the vehicle. In the search that ensued Deputy Smeeks
located a bag of marijuana and partially smoked marijuana joint.
On 10 Aug 07 the manager of Byer’s Exxon
reported during the course of two employees’ shift the
previous evening $150 was stolen from the cash register, three
packs of cigarettes were taken and two customers failed to
pay for merchandise. This case remains under investigation
(1106).
On 10 Aug 07 Sgt. Hiatt completed a grand
jury brief, requesting the Prosecutor’s Office pursue
an indictment against Robert L. Patterson, age 24, 3799 Broadway
Avenue, Grove City, OH, for felonious assault and tampering
with evidence. The brief alleges that on 8 Aug 07 Mr. Patterson,
an inmate in the Washington County Jail, assaulted Justin Cline,
age 21, another inmate in the jail, with a sock weighted with
a pencil sharpener. During an interview with Detectives Evans
and Hiatt Mr. Patterson stated he just completed visitation
with his girlfriend, who informed him she was pregnant by a
man named Justin. Thinking Cline was the person his girlfriend
mentioned, Mr. Patterson repeatedly struck Cline with the sock
and pencil sharpener. Patterson stated he then hid the weapon
in a trash can in the housing block. Cline was transported
to the hospital and received stitches and staples as a result
of the assaults
DICE TEAM INTERDICTION EFFORTS
Late yesterday and into the early hours of this morning the
Washington County Sheriff’s Office Drug Interdiction
Criminal Enforcement (DICE) Team conducted an operation that
resulted in several arrests. The DICE Team periodically conducts
saturation enforcement in selected area for those persons involved
in drug trafficking, driving under the influence and/or under
suspension, outstanding warrants and other traffic violations.
The DICE Team composed of officers of the Sheriff’s Office
and the Marietta Police Department periodically conducts these
operations in an effort to demonstrate its proactive nature
and to promote driver safety.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
George Edward Thomas III, age 33, 308 Main Street, Lowell,
for operating a vehicle without a license, a misdemeanor. Thomas
was arrested on Greene Street in Marietta by Detective Warden
of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 10 Aug 07 at 12:11 am.
Miranda Rae Fryer, age 29, 100 Third Street, Dennison, OH,
for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Fryer was arrested on
Blue Knob Road by Detective Gherke of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 10 Aug 07 at 1:25 am.
Robin Jerome Richards, age 20, 4076 State Route 339, Belpre,
for possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Richards
was arrested on Pike Street in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Travaglio
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Aug 07
at 1:30 am.
Roger Dean Clevenger, age 47, 19456 McFarland Hill Road, Macksburg,
for resisting arrest, breach of recognizance and for two counts
of disorderly conduct by intoxication, all misdemeanors. Clevenger
was arrested on Butler Street in Marietta by Lt. Wilson of
the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 10 Aug 07 at 2:45 am.
Eric Dale Conley, age 28, PO Box 84, Sardis, for two felony
counts of failure to comply with the order/signal of an officer
and three misdemeanor counts of OVI. Conley was arrested at
the Sheriff’s Office by Deputy Sheriff Eddy and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 10 Aug 07 at 7:50 am.
Raleigh Ray Robinson Jr., age 31, 7 Monroe
Street, Chauncey, OH, for possession of drugs, permitting drug
abuse and for trafficking in drugs, all felonies. Robinson
was picked up at the Southeastern Regional Jail in Nelsonville
by Lt. Coppernoll of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10
Aug 07 at 9:40 am.
Carla Marie O’Neill, age 37, 117 Deer Haven Street,
Marietta, for violating the terms of her probation, a misdemeanor.
O’Neill was arrested on behalf of Probation Officer Hamilton
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Aug 07
at 9:45 am.
Joseph A. Carpenter II, age 25, 16020 State Route 821, Macksburg,
for contempt of a court order, a misdemeanor. Carpenter was
arrested in Common Pleas Court by Lt. Coppernoll of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 10 Aug 07 at 2:20 pm.
Tyrone Anthony Fry, age 22, 208 Upper Fifteenmile Creek Road,
Wingett Run, for violating the terms of his parole, a felony.
Fry was arrested on behalf of Probation Officer Gault and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 10 Aug 07 at 3:30 pm.
John Eugene Anderson, age 26, Marietta, for a felony charge
of violating the terms of his probation and for a misdemeanor
charge of theft. Anderson was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman
McClelland of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 10 Aug 07 at 4:00 pm.
Christopher Michael Tyree, age 21, 1612 20th Street, Cuyahoga
Falls, OH, for violating the terms of his probation, a felony.
Tyree was arrested near milepost six on Interstate 77 by Deputy
Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 10 Aug 07 at 4:30 pm.
Kelly Jane Farnsworth, age 19, 122 Harmar Street, Marietta,
for assault, a misdemeanor. Farnsworth was arrested at her
residence by Patrolman Chapman of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
10 Aug 07 at 7:51 pm.
