On 24 Jul 07 an employee of Degussa, 11135 State Route 7, Belpre, reported two men appeared on the plant’s property and concocted a story in an attempt to obtain scrap materials from the company. Employees thwarted the attempted theft and the suspects left in separate vehicles with Kansas plates in the company of two females. This case remains under investigation (232).

On 24 Jul 07 Benjamin G. Eddy, age 75, 304 Third Street, Lowell, reported he was napping at his property at 234 Main Street, Lowell, when he was awakened at 2 pm and observed three individuals he recognized near the storage building at that address. When the individuals left Mr. Eddy inventoried his property and concluded one of the suspects stole a new Dewalt cordless drill. This case remains under investigation (232).

On 24 Jul 07 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio issued a citation to Derrick N. Shanholtzer, age 22, 186 Mill Street Apt. 205, Athens, for driving under a suspended license and for having an inoperable license plate light. Deputy Travaglio stopped Mr. Shanholtzer at the intersection of Seventh and Greene Street in Marietta.

The following individual was processed into the Washington County Jail:

Rickey Dee Hines, age 45, 271 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, for domestic violence, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines and for failure to appear, all misdemeanors. Hines was arrested at Marietta Memorial Hospital by Patrolman Sury of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Jul 07 at 11:14 pm.
