On 23 Jul 07 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio issued a citation to Mary E. Whipkey, age 19, 409 Oakwood Avenue, Marietta, for driving under a suspended license and for having inoperable tail lights. Deputy Travaglio stopped Ms. Whipkey on Pike Street at Acme Street in Marietta.

On 23 Jul 07 Sgt. Underwood and Deputy Sheriff Norman investigated an act of domestic violence that occurred as Eric W. Nutter, age 42, 480 Rummer Road Apt. B, Marietta, was traveling on State Route 676 with his son and daughter. The victim, Mr. Nutter’s eleven year old daughter, stated she accidentally dropped a cup on the floor of the vehicle and reached to retrieve the cup before it rolled under the gas or brake pedal. When the juvenile raised up Mr. Nutter elbowed her twice in the left eye, a fact confirmed by the girl’s brother. As a result, Sgt. Underwood arrested Mr. Nutter for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 23 Jul 07 Joseph M. Shuman, age 29, 836 Pike Street Apt. 21, Marietta, reported sometime over the past five days a component from his company vehicle was stolen, a loss of $1,500. This case remains under investigation (296).

On 23 Jul 07 Marjorie Welsh, age 67, 3437 State Route 339, Belpre, reported being assaulted by her husband Dale, age 69. Mrs. Welsh stated her husband came into their residence angry after an argument with his son, grabbed her around the neck and shoved her head against their bed. Caused much discomfort due to a recent back operation, Mrs. Welsh said the incident made her fear for her safety. Mr. Welsh continuously struggled as Deputy Sheriff Malone attempted to handcuff him on a charge of domestic violence, resulting in an additional charge of resisting arrest. Mr. Welsh eventually acquiesced he was transported to the Washington County Jail.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Eric Wayne Nutter, age 42, 480 Rummer Road Apt. B, Marietta, for domestic violence, a felony. Nutter was arrested at his residence by Sgt. Underwood of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Jul 07 at 5:30 pm.

Dale Walter Welsh Sr., age 69, 3437 State Route 339, Belpre, for domestic violence and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. Welsh was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Malone and processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Jul 07 at 7:00 pm.

Terje Lee Blackwell, age 40, 1601 Hill Street Apt. E, Belpre, for violating the terms of his parole, a felony. Blackwell is being held on orders from Probation Officer Smith and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Jul 07 at 7:45 pm.

Hannah Elizabeth Everett, age 18, 5080 Lexington Park Apt. H, Columbus, for operating with an expired license, a misdemeanor. Everett was arrested near milepost sixteen on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Jul 07 at 8:10 pm.
