On 16 Jul 07 Deputy Sheriff Durham began an
investigation into the endangerment of an eighteen month old
Lower Salem resident. The young girl sustained first and second
degree sunburns last week and was transferred from Marietta
Memorial Hospital to the burn unit at Children’s Hospital
in Columbus.
On 16 Jul 07 Maureen A. Maiden, 1832 Hebron
Road, Saint Marys, reported the driver of an unknown vehicle
struck the driver’s side of her Chrysler minivan while
it was parked at Newport Elementary School the previous day.
The driver of the unknown vehicle then left the scene without
providing contact information. This incident remains under
investigation (500).
On 16 Jul 07 Deputy Sheriff Durham issued
a citation to Buffie M. Gerst, age 28, 200 Walnut Drive Apt.
A, Lower Salem, for driving under a suspended license and for
driving a vehicle with expired plates. Deputy Durham stopped
Ms. Gerst on Third Street near Wooster Street in Marietta.
On 16 Jul 07 Andrew B. Hall, age 20, 300 Starlite
Drive Lot 3, Marietta, reported sometime over the past three
days he believes one of two acquaintances that spent several
days at his home stole a gold necklace and cross valued at
nearly $1,000. This case remains under investigation (500).
On 16 Jul 07 Richard A. Prim, age 73, 605
Dana Road, Newport, reported on the 13th and 18th of last month
his debit card was used without his permission to place charges
with Dish Network of $120 and $500. Speaking with Dish Network,
Deputy Durham was informed that Mr. Prim could have been mistakenly
billed and that the charges would be refunded.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Victoria Sue Moss, age 46, 11390 State Route
26, Marietta, for automobile theft, a felony. Moss was arrested
on Bear Run Road by Deputy Sheriff Norman and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 16 Jul 07 at 12:37 am.
Douglas Gene Snider, age 33, 409 Maple Street,
Marietta, for theft and forgery, both felonies. Snider was
picked up at the Noble Correctional Institution by Lt. Coppernoll
of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 16 Jul 07 at 9:41 am.
Charles Clinton Carpenter, age 22, 403 Wirt Street, Belpre,
for felonious assault. Carpenter was arrested at Putnam Place
in Belpre by Sgt. Stackpole of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16
Jul 07 at 1:02 pm.
Mark Allen Carey, age 43, 23 Shriver Avenue Apt. 4, Massillon,
OH, for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Carey
was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 Jul 07
at 1:33 pm.
Ruthie Dulcia Scoggan, age 20, 330 Franklin Street, Marietta,
for two felony counts of passing bad checks. Scoggan was arrested
at his residence by Patrolman Huffman of the Marietta City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 16 Jul 07 at 7:56 pm.
