On 7 May 07 at 1 am Deputy Sheriff Morris encountered three vehicles parked at Peoples Bank in Newport. In one of the vehicles a witness informed Deputy Morris that Joshua A. Beaver, age 27, 101 Evans Street Apt. B11, New Matamoras, cut himself several times with a razor blade and was threatening to further harm himself. Arranging for transportation for treatment to Mr. Beaver’s injuries, Deputy Morris detected an odor of alcohol on Mr. Beaver and requested a summons for him for disorderly conduct by intoxication.

On 7 May 07 Ron Hill, age 66, 3310 Sandhill Road, Marietta, reported his son Anthony, age 23, became upset that morning had been cussing and arguing with him and his wife all day. At one point Mr. Hill stated his son punched a wall and scattered a package of cookies all over the kitchen. When Deputy Evans arrived and detained the younger Hill, who continued his violent and turbulent behavior. As a result, Deputy Evans arrested Anthony for disorderly conduct and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 7 May 07 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks arrested Matthew G. Alden, age 24, 41 Hooper Street Apt. C, Athens, for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Alden was stopped for speeding on US 50 when Deputy Smeeks noticed he was acting nervously and conducted an exterior search of the vehicle using his canine. At that time Deputy Smeeks found a marijuana pipe in the vehicle and Mr. Alden admitted he had marijuana in his pocket.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Matthew Glen Alden, age 24, 41 Hooper Street Apt. C, Athens, for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Alden was arrested in Belpre by Deputy Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 May 07 at 2:00 pm.

Troy Shane Wittekind, age 38, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors. Wittekind was arrested on Fourth Street in Marietta by Sgt. Wright of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 May 07 at 8:30 pm.

Steven Edward Hawver, age 44, 204 Ninth Street Apt. D, Williamstown, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Hawver was arrested on Pike Street in Marietta by Patrolman Huffman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 May 07 at 9:06 pm.

Anthony Earl Hill, age 23, 3310 Sandhill Road, Newport, for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Hill as arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Evans and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 May 07 at 11:07 pm.
