On 2 May 07 Deputy Sheriff Evans conducted
a traffic stop at the intersection of Third and Washington
Streets after observing a vehicle fail to signal. Speaking
to the occupants, Kevin A. Lawrence, age 20, 330 State Route
376, McConnelsville, and Brian D. McDonie Jr., age 23, 2420
North Unionville Road, McConnelsville, Deputy Evans was assisted
at the scene by Patrolman Hickey of the Marietta City Police
Department. Patrolman Hickey’s canine Boyd indicated
the presence of drugs in the vehicle, prompting further investigation.
During a pat down for weapons Deputy Evans located white pills
identified as Vicodin secreted in the tongues of both shoes
worn by Mr. Lawrence as well as a small quantity of marijuana.
Deputy Evans also located a cigarette pack in the vicinity
of the seat in which Mr. McDonie was sitting and likewise identified
the pills as Vicodin. Admitting the pills were his and that
he did not have a prescription for them, Mr. McDonie was charged
with possession of a controlled substance. Deputy Evans charged
Mr. Lawrence with possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia
and a controlled substance and transported him and Mr. McDonie
to the Washington County Jail.
SUSPECT CHARGED WITH UNLAWFUL SEXUAL CONDUCT
WITH A MINOR
On 10 Apr 07 Sgt. Hiatt began an investigation into an allegation
that a twenty-five year old male engaged in a sexual relationship
with a female who was fourteen years old at the time. When
interviewed the victim, a Little Hocking resident, informed
Sgt. Hiatt that in December of 2006 she engaged in consensual
sexual intercourse with Jason L. Dicken, age 25, 700 Second
Street, Pocomoke City, MD, in a camper located at a residence
in Little Hocking and that Mr. Dicken had since left the area.
The victim stated Mr. Dicken knew her age and told him how
old she was when they initially met prior to the start of their
sexual relationship. Extradited from Maryland to Marietta on
a warrant from Municipal Court, Mr. Dicken was interview by
Lt. Schuck. At that time Mr. Dicken admitted that he had engaged
in sexual intercourse with the victim on one occasion and knew
that she was under the age of sixteen. The defendant admitted
that he knew this was wrong and he could get into trouble.
Dicken is being held in the Washington County Jail pending
his initial court appearance.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Mack Edward Washington, age 57, 811 ½ Belrock Avenue
Apt. 9, Belpre, for OVI, a misdemeanor. Washington was arrested
on Turkey Hollow Road by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 2 May 07 at 12:52 am.
Shane Lee Goins, age 30, 646 Moxahala Avenue, Zanesville,
for a felony charge of conveyance of illegal items into a detention
facility and a misdemeanor charge of failure to appear at a
court ordered hearing on unpaid fines. Goins was picked up
at the Noble Correctional Institution by Deputy Sheriff Eddy
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 May 07 at
2:11 pm.
Brian Douglas McDonie Jr., age 23, 2420 Unionville
Road, McConnelsville, for possession of drugs, a misdemeanor.
McDonie was arrested in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Evans and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 May 07 at 10:45
pm.
Kevin Andrew Lawrence, age 20, 526 ½ East Bow Avenue,
McConnelsville, for possession of drugs and possession of drug
paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Lawrence was arrested in
Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Evans and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 2 May 07 at 11:00 pm.
