On 27 Apr 07 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued
a minor misdemeanor citations to Phillip D. Davis, age 19,
16843 Crooked Tree Road, Dexter City, and Aaron W. Cain, age
25, 211 Fifth Street Apt. 4, Beverly, for possessing less than
100 grams of marijuana. Mr. Davis was the driver of the vehicle
in which the two were traveling on State Route 60 in Lowell
when he was stopped for not having a front license plate. Once
Deputy Smeeks’ canine indicated the presence of drugs,
he located marijuana in the vehicle both individuals admitted
was theirs.
On 27 Apr 07 Deputy Sheriff Evans assisted
the Dog Warden’s Office in an incident at 2291 Blue Knob
Road, Marietta. Investigating a loose animal complaint, Officer
Strahler approached the residence when a dog charged him. Officer
Strahler discharged his firearm three times to wound the dog
and thwart the on himself and a witness. Deputy Evans determined
the use of force was necessary to preserve Officer Strahler’s
and the witness’ safety.
On 26 Apr 07 Frances Glowaski, age 74, 37
Elba Hill Road, Macksburg, reported three money orders, which
she purchased for $ 104.66 in early March to pay bills, were
stolen sometime thereafter. This case remains under investigation
(500).
COUPLE ARRESTED
Connie S. Vaughn, age 36, and her husband Robert, age 30,
both of 30 Alderman Street Lot 2, Marietta, are both incarcerated
in the Washington County Jail on charges of breaking and entering
after an investigation into items stolen from local storage
units. On Saturday 28 Apr 07 Gregory Barnum, age 49, 400 County
House, Lane, Marietta, was browsing through the Rinky Dink
Flea Market when he recognized several items at the Vaughn’s
sales booth that he reported stolen from his storage unit on
County House Lane on 8 Apr. Interviewed by Deputy Sheriff Simmons,
Mr. Vaughn stated he and his wife used bolt cutters to enter
two storage units on County House Lane, three on Sandhill Road
and an additional unit on State Route 550. Mr. Vaughn further
stated he and his wife stole mostly plastic totes containing
items but also took a television, a DVD player, tools and other
items. Both are being held on $2,500 bond pending their initial
appearance in Marietta Municipal Court; additional charges
are pending.

issuing a bad check to Hocking Tire for $688.65 on 3 Nov 06.
Evette M. Hardie, age 29, 16 Mountaineer Trailer Court, Williamstown,
for driving under a suspended license on 11 Apr 07.
Serena C. Lindsey, age 31, 413 Market Street, Marietta, for
possession of drug paraphernalia on 2 Mar 07.
Jeanette L. Piggott, age 33, 601 Barkley Street Lot 1, Belpre,
for breach of recognizance for failing to appear for pretrial
on 18 Apr 07.
Catherine E. Robinson, age 32, 304 Blennerhassett Avenue Lot
5, Belpre, for failing to appear for pretrial on 20 Apr 07.
Robert L. Stout, age 25, 92 Hickory Flats, Buckhannon, WV,
for failing to appear for pretrial on 13 Apr 07.
Alen D. Stull, age 29, 35 Lawnsdale Road, Belpre, for an act
of domestic violence committed on 15 Apr 07.
Sampson W. Williams, age 27, 412 10th Street, Rainelle, WV,
for failing to appear for pretrial on 24 Apr 07.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Jeremy Gale Davis, age 24, 416 Arnold Road,
Lowell, for domestic violence, a felony. Davis was arrested
at the courthouse by Captain Brum of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 27 Apr 07 at 9:45 am.
James David Warner, age 25, 101 Main Street, Summerfield,
OH, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Warner was picked up in Muskingum County by Deputy Sheriff
O’Brien and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 27 Apr 07 at 12:50 pm.
Brenda Lee Mackey, age 40, 830 Congress Road, Belpre, for
domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Mackey was arrested on Washington
Boulevard in Belpre by Detective Garvey of the Belpre City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 27 Apr 07 at 4:15 pm.
David Allen Sayres, age 42, Marietta, for disorderly conduct
by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Sayres was arrested on Greene
Street in Marietta by Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 27 Apr 07 at 8:20 pm.
Stephen Lee Parish, age 39, 845 County House Lane, Marietta,
for telephone harassment and for menacing, both misdemeanors.
Parish was arrested on Spring Street in Marietta by Patrolman
Huffman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 27 Apr 07 at 9:00 pm.
