On 14 Apr 07 Deputy Sheriff Evans was assisting in a criminal complaint at Par Mar in Beverly when he encountered Shane D. Thomas, age 20, 416 Mulberry Street, Marietta. Mr. Thomas had a strong odor of alcohol and admitted to Deputy Evans that he was under twenty-one and consumed beer in Marietta earlier in the evening. As a result, Deputy Evans arrested Mr. Thomas for underage consumption of alcohol and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 14 Apr 07 Deputy Sheriff Staats conducted a traffic stop on Acme Street on a Dodge Dakota with no back glass and a homemade grill after noticing the vehicle’s license plates belonged on a Ford four door. Contacting the driver, Tommy Glen Bettis, age 57, 631 Seventh Street, Marietta, Deputy Staats observed a passenger in truck holding a year old child and learned Mr. Bettis did not have a valid license. As a result, Deputy Staats arrested Mr. Bettis for operating without a license, for not using child restraints and for having fictitious plates and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 14 Apr 07, while conducting a business check at Par Mar in Beverly, Deputy Sheriff Morris observed Norman David Kennedy, age 21, 108 Riley Drive Apt. 4, Marietta, urinating on the outside wall of the business. Deputy Morris noted Mr. Kennedy was visible to patrons entering the building and to anyone using the gas pumps. Asked why he didn’t use an inside restroom, Mr. Kennedy stated it was occupied and he could not wait to relieve himself. In consequence, Deputy Morris arrested Mr. Kennedy for public indecency and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 14 Apr 07 Donald P. Fox, age 52, 1000 Sandhill Road, Marietta, reported while he was out of town overnight an unknown suspect broke a window on his trailer and removed a Dell laptop computer from his desk. This case remains under investigation (501).

On 14 Apr 07 Deputy Sheriff Evans arrested Zachary E. Watson, age 23, 16457 County Road 132, Caldwell, for OVI. Stopped for driving without headlights at the intersection of Butler and Acme Streets, Mr. Watson heavily slurred his speech, had an odor of alcohol and stated he consumed two drinks. Mr. Watson performed poorly on subsequent field sobriety tests and when transported to the Washington County Jail tested .109% BAC.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Zachary Elijah Watson, age 23, 16457 County Road 132, Caldwell, for OVI, a misdemeanor. Watson was arrested near the intersection of Front Street and Butler Street in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Evans and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Apr 07 at 2:41 am.

Tommy Glen Bettis, age 57, 631 Seventh Street, Marietta, for operating without a license, for not using child restraints and for having fictitious plates, all misdemeanors. Bettis was arrested on Acme Street in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Staats and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Apr 07 at 4:04 am.

Timothy Jordan Shaw, age 20, 840 Pike Street Apt. 41, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Shaw was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Simmons and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Apr 07 at 10:20 am.

Brian Denver Hess, age 31, 288 Ridgewood Court Apt. E, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Hess was arrested on Long Run Road in Newport by Deputy Sheriff Sirianni and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Apr 07 at 5:10 pm.

Robert Eugene Covey Jr., age 48, 205 Sheldon Avenue Apt. 1, Marietta, for obstructing official business, a misdemeanor. Covey was arrested at his residence by Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Apr 07 at 8:02 pm.

Terry Lee Ridgeway, age 40, 1870 Rinard Mille Road, New Matamoras, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, resisting arrest and possession of drugs, all misdemeanor. Ridgeway was arrested on Williamson Avenue in New Matamoras by Chief Bourne of the New Matamoras Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Apr 07 at 11:20 pm.
