On 18 Mar 07 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued
a minor misdemeanor citation to Preston Steen, age 19, 330
Merrimac Road Lot 90, Blacksburg, VA, for possession of marijuana.
Mr. Steen was a passenger in a vehicle stopped on Interstate
77 and had an odor of burnt marijuana.
On 18 Mar 07 Larry E. Harris, age 45, 3000
Barnett Ridge Road, Fleming, reported overnight one of his
son’s visiting friends allegedly stole a .38 caliber
and a .32 caliber pistol from his home. When one of the juveniles
arranged the return of the weapons Mr. Harris declined to pursue
the matter further.
On 18 Mar 07 Deputy Sheriff Reynolds arrested
Shawn M. Olivas, age 27, 413 Jaqueline Drive, Byesville, for
OVI and for reckless operation. Witnesses at the D & E
Drive-in, where the incident occurred, stated Mr. Olivas drove
over a concrete parking stop a and across a walkway before
stopping near the door to an outside restroom. Having an odor
of alcohol, Mr. Olivas admitted drinking beer as he drove with
a friend and stopped at the restaurant to relieve himself.
Prior to being transported to the Washington County Jail Mr.
Olivas tested .170% BAC and performed poorly on field sobriety
tests.
On 18 Mar 07 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes arrested
Phillip W. Kinzel, age 28, 2570 Vickers Road, Marietta, for
using a weapon while intoxicated. Admitting he consumed twelve
beers, Mr. Kinzel fired a round from his 9 mm handgun in his
front yard after a verbal altercation with his wife over marital
issues. Mr. Kinzel relinquished the weapon to a neighbor prior
to Deputy Rhodes’ arrival and taken into custody without
incident.
On 18 Mar 07 a member of the Devola Fire Department,
1286 Masonic Park Road, Marietta, reported finding twenty-one
bullet holes in the side of the department’s training
trailer located behind Masonic Park in Devola. This case remains
under investigation (500).
On 18 Mar 07 Deputy Sheriff Reynolds issued
a citation to Daniel P. Woodford, age 43, 511 Fifth Street,
Lowell, for driving with expired tags. Deputy Reynolds stopped
Mr. Woodford on Adams Street near State Route 339 in Adams
Township.
On 18 Mar 07 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued
a citation to Buffie M. Gerst, age 28, 200 Walnut Drive Apt.
A, Whipple, for driving under a suspended license and for having
expired registration. Deputy Smeeks stopped Ms. Gerst on State
Route 821 near Interstate 77 in Muskingum Township.
On 18 Mar 07 Lt. Wilson issued a citation
to Eduard Povarinets, age 67, 29391 Candlewood Lane, Southfield,
MI, for traveling 90 mph in a 65 mph zone. Lt. Wilson stopped
Mr. Povarinets on Interstate 77 near milepost nine in Adams
Township.
On 18 Mar 07 Deputy Sheriff Staats issued
a citation to Mitchell A. Brown, age 45, 937 Homewood Avenue
SE, Warren, OH, for traveling 83 mph in a 65 mph zone. Deputy
Staats stopped Mr. Brown on Interstate 77 near milepost sixteen
in Aurelius Township.
On 18 Mar 07 Serina Shilling, age 36, 475
Anderson Road, Lowell, reported being assaulted by her live-in
boyfriend Robert J. Perry, age 37. Ms. Shilling stated Mr.
Perry arrived at their home very angry for reasons unbeknownst
to her and went berserk. Before Ms. Shilling escaped to a neighbor’s
home, Mr. Perry punched her numerous times in the face and
banged her head on the floor. Mr. Perry was later arrested
on Cats Creek Road for domestic violence and transported to
the Washington County Jail.
On 18 Mar 07 Deputy Sheriff Malone responded
to the scene of a domestic dispute at the home of Becky Dennewitz,
age 42, and Kelly J. Bollinger, age 41, at 38 Suzanne Street,
Little Hocking. Ms. Dennewitz stated Mr. Bollinger shoved her
down in the bedroom of their home and was in fear for her safety.
Intoxicated from drinking all day, Mr. Bollinger swung his
fist at the face of his live-in partner of twenty years but
did not connect. Ms. Dennewitz then escaped by pushing Mr.
Bollinger onto a bed in the room. In consequence to his actions,
Mr. Bollinger was arrested for domestic violence and transported
to the Washington County Jail.
On 18 Mar 07 Deputy Sheriff Staats arrested
Chadlee D. Norris, age 25, 503 Walhanding Street, Brewster,
OH, for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia,
and requested a summons for Mr. Norris’ seventeen year
old brother to appear in Juvenile Court for delinquency by
possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both
were passengers in a vehicle that Deputy Staats stopped on
Interstate 77 for speeding. Once Deputy Staats’ canine
indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle, both passengers
revealed marijuana pipes and quantities of marijuana less than
100 grams.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Frederick Harold Lawson, age 25, 716 Franklin Avenue Apt.
4, Belpre, for violating the terms of his probation and for
failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines,
both misdemeanors. Lawson was arrested at his residence by
Patrolman Augenstein of the Belpre City Police Department and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 18 Mar 07 at 2:45
am.
Robert Jonathan Huffman, age 26, 797 Channel Lane, Marietta,
for a felony charge of failure to comply with the order/signal
of an officer and for a misdemeanor charge of criminal damaging.
Huffman was arrested on Greene Street in Marietta by Patrolman
Blasko of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 18 Mar 07 at 3:50 am.
Robert Lee Stout, age 25, 913 Long Run Road, Newport, for
criminal trespassing, a misdemeanor. Stout was arrested on
Pike Street in Marietta by Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 18 Mar 07 at 3:50 am.
Kelly Joe Bollinger, age 41, 38 Suzanne Street, Little Hocking,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Bollinger was arrested
at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Malone and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 18 Mar 07 at 4:45 am.
John Stephen Bush, age 31, 60 Dye Street, Newport, for nonsupport
of dependants, a misdemeanor. Bush was arrested at his residence
by Deputy Sheriff McLeish and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 18 Mar 07 at 11:10 am.
Saquane George Gaston, age 26, 1720 Ninth Street, Rock Island,
IL, for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Gaston
was arrested near milepost nine on Interstate 77 by Deputy
Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 18 Mar 07 at 11:50 am.
Robert Joseph Perry, age 37, 475 Anderson Road, Lowell, for
domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Perry was arrested at 3010
Cats Creek Road in Lowell by Deputy Sheriff McLeish and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 18 Mar 07 at 1:35 pm.
Chadlee David Norris, age 25, 503 Walhanding Street, Brewster,
OH, for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia,
both misdemeanors. Norris was arrested near milepost ten on
Interstate 77 by Deputy Sheriff Staats and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 18 Mar 07 at 4:00 pm.
Andrew Wayne Hutchins, age 18, 204 Hope Drive, Athens, for
theft, a misdemeanor. Hutchins was picked up at the Belpre
City Police Department by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 18 Mar 07 at 4:20 pm.
Eva Renee Grywalsky, age 42, 880 Alloway Road, Little Hocking,
for OVI, a misdemeanor. Grywalsky was arrested on State Route
555 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 18 Mar 07 at 7:14 pm.
Marty Lewan Bass, age 37, 13228 State Route 555, Cutler, for
violating the terms of his parole, a felony. Bass was arrested
at his residence by Sgt. Underwood of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 18 Mar 07 at 10:45 pm.
Eric Wayne Watson, age 36, 129 Watson Lane, Belpre, for two
misdemeanor counts of domestic violence. Watson was arrested
at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Malone and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 18 Mar 07 at 10:55 pm.
