On 16 Mar 07 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Ricardo L. Cooper, age 25, 630 N. Euclid Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, for speeding on US 50. Noticing a lot of movement by Mr. Cooper prior the stop, Deputy Smeeks also detected an odor of burnt marijuana in Mr. Cooper’s vehicle. Once his canine indicated the presence of drugs, Deputy Smeeks discovered a plastic bag containing marijuana residue. Deputy Smeeks looked inside Mr. Copper’s mouth and confirmed his suspicion that the suspect ate the marijuana to avoid its detection. The passenger in the vehicle affirmed the marijuana’s consumption, stating he observed Mr. Cooper consume a blunt as he was pulling to the side of the road.

On 16 Mar 07 an employee of Napoli’s Pizza, 19 Arrowhead Road, Little Hocking, reported on 18 Dec 06 the business received a bad check for $23.98. This case remains under investigation (8411).

On 16 Mar 07 Jarred Robison, age 19, 209 Elm Street, reported between 3 pm and 6 pm on 13 Mar 07 an unknown suspect stole his wallet and used two of his credit cards to make purchases without his consent. This case remains under investigation (1299).

On 16 Mar 07 Deputy Sheriff Reynolds issued a citation to Nathaniel A. Harris, age 28, Route 3 Box 503, South Shore, KY, for failure to obey a traffic control device. Deputy Reynolds stopped Mr. Harris after he failed to stop when turning from Arends Ridge Road onto State Route 821 in Muskingum Township.

On 16 Mar 07 Deputy Sheriff Reynolds arrested Paul S. Pasco, age 44, 505 East Branch Road, Lowell, for disorderly conduct by intoxication. Contacted as he staggered along the road near his home, Mr. Pasco threw a whiskey bottle over an embankment. He state he was involved in argument with family members over cigarettes and a cell phone and began tearing up the residence. Unwilling to pursue charges over the damage, family members were concerned for Mr. Pasco’s safety for the evening.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

David Kenneth Sowers Jr., age 27, 119 Warner Street, Marietta, for possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Sowers was arrested on Greene Street in Marietta by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 Mar 07 at 12:09 am.

Amanda Rose Sowers, age 27, 119 Warner Street, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Sowers was arrested on Greene Street in Marietta by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 Mar 07 at 12:18 am.

Todd Alan Covey, age 39, 4101 Newells Run Road, Marietta, for violating the terms of a protection order, a misdemeanor. Covey was arrested on Elm Street in Marietta by Patrolman Arbaugh of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 Mar 07 at 12:37 am.

Rebecca Lynn Mathias, age 35, 117 Westchester Drive, Marietta, for being a fugitive from justice, a felony. Mathias was arrested at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Reynolds and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 Mar 07 at 12:44 am.

Amanda Jean Burrows, age 21, 4306 Lake Road Apt. 1, Killeen, TX, for a felony charge of failure to comply with the order/signal of an officer and misdemeanor charges of OVI and operating with an expired license. Burrows was arrested on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 Mar 07 at 6:45 am.

Melissa Dawn Fulton, age 38, 523 Second Street Apt. 30, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines and for parking near a curb, both misdemeanors. Fulton was arrested at her residence by Patrolman Hilverding of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 Mar 07 at 12:52 pm.

James Stanley Lane, age 61, 500 Rocky Point Road, Fleming, for violating the terms of his probation, a felony. Lane was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 Mar 07 at 2:30 pm.

Tricia Carolyn McGee, age 27, 116 Groves Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of her probation, a misdemeanor. McGee was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 Mar 07 at 3:18 pm.

Ricardo Lamar Cooper II, age 25, 703 Saint Clair Street Apt. 1, Pittsburgh, PA, for a felony charge of tampering with evidence and a misdemeanor charge of speeding. Cooper was arrested on US 50 by Deputy Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 Mar 07 at 8:10 pm.
