On 20 Feb 07 Billie J. Moss, age 50, Route
1 Box 77, Mineral Wells, struck a deer as he traveled eastbound
on State Route 550 near milepost nine. Mr. Moss reported no
injuries; his Ford truck sustained only non-functional damage
(1203).
On 20 Feb 07 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks arrested
Bradford C. Tallman, age 34, 2702 Division Street Ext., Parkersburg,
for OVI and for operating with an expired license. Deputy Smeeks
observed Mr. Tallman driving at a very low speed on US 50 and
drove onto the curb when he turned onto Main Street in Belpre.
Smelling a strong odor of alcohol, Deputy Smeeks administered
field sobriety tests, on which Mr. Tallman performed poorly.
Arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail, Mr.
Tallman tested .140% BAC.
On 20 Feb 07 Deputy Sheriff Simmons was dispatched
to Marietta Memorial Hospital to begin an investigation into
a suicide attempt by a fifteen year old New Matamoras resident.
The victim’s brother stated he found a note indicating
his sister’s intentions but had no information on what
drug she took. The juvenile was later transported to Children’s
Hospital for further treatment.
On 20 Feb 07 an employee of Hartline Farms,
735 Wagner Road, Marietta, reported between 1 pm on 17 Feb
and 2 am on 19 Feb an employee allegedly stole a toolbox containing
tools valued at over $550. Interviewed by Deputy Sheriff Morris,
the seventeen year old suspect admitted stealing the tools
and giving them to his older brother in exchange for being
given rides to work. Deputy Morris later recovered the stolen
items and returned them to business. This case remains under
investigation.

Jason Tipton Darst, age 23, 18 Campbell Street,
The Plains, for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor.
Darst was arrested on Farson Street in Belpre by Patrolman
Clevenger of the Belpre City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 20 Feb 07 at 2:01 am.
Matthew Steven Yonker, age 22, 937 Second
Street, Middleport, OH, for a felony charge of possession of
drugs and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug abuse
instruments. Yonker was arrested on State Route 7 by Patrolman
Williams of the Belpre City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 20 Feb 07 at 10:44 am.
Bobby Lamar Thomas Jr., age 33, 3590 126th Street, Cleveland,
for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia,
both misdemeanors. Thomas was arrested on State Route 7 by
Patrolman Williams of the Belpre City Police Department and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Feb 07 at 10:55
am.
Connie Sue Carpenter, age 35, 300 Alderman Street Apt. 2,
Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Carpenter was arrested at her
residence by Patrolman McClellan of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
20 Feb 07 at 1:10 pm.
Justin Ambler Hughes, age 28, 148 Woodland Avenue, Marietta,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Hughes was arrested at the courthouse
by Patrolman Caldwell of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Feb 07
at 2:00 pm.
Nancy Yvonne Keener, age 39, PO Box 102, Pullman, WV, for
driving under a suspended license, speeding and for not wearing
a seat belt, all misdemeanors. Keener was arrested on State
Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 20 Feb 07 at 2:15 pm.
Adam Dale Mason, age 23, 601 Barclay Street Apt. 4, Belpre,
for driving under an FRA suspended license and speeding, both
misdemeanors. Mason was arrested on Stone Road in Belpre by
Patrolman Augenstein of the Belpre City Police Department and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Feb 07 at 2:40
pm.
Richard Daniel Gill, age 45, 17 Lauer Road, Whipple, for domestic
violence, a misdemeanor. Gill was arrested at Mike’s
Auto Body by Deputy Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 20 Feb 07 at 4:02 pm.
Charles Brian Davis, age 31, 145 Turkey Knob Road, Newport,
for two misdemeanor counts of violating the terms of his probation.
Davis was picked up in Coshocton by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Feb 07
at 5:19 pm.
