On 22 Jan 07 an employee of Miller Cable Company, 210 South Broadway, Green Springs, OH, reported sometime since the morning of 9 Jan 07 an unknown suspect(s) stole $2,975 worth of copper wiring from a job site near milepost 5.5 on US 50. The thieves cut 850 feet of PVC coated copper wiring into six foot lengths and removed the copper strands inside. This case remains under investigation (1293).

On 22 Jan 07 Deputy Sheriffs Reynolds and Stackpole investigated a report of an intoxicated male who was passed out and had previously threatened to harm himself. Paul Newbanks, age 49, 7923 Veto Road, Belpre, also reportedly had a weapon and admitted drinking a fifth of Lord Calvert, a fine Canadian whiskey valued at $13. For his safety Mr. Newbanks was arrested for disorderly conduct by intoxication and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 22 Jan 07 Daniel J. Turner, age 46, 400 Warrior Drive, Vincent, reported while in his truck discussing marital problems, his estranged wife repeatedly kicked him in the groin and scratched his face. Contrarily, Vickie Turner, age 45, 9383 Veto Road, Belpre, stated it her husband was the aggressor and that he attempted to push her out of the parked vehicle by shoving on her neck and chest. As a result, Deputy Evans requested summonses for Mr. and Mrs. Turner both for disorderly conduct by fighting.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Clay Floyd Springer Jr., age 29, 466 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, for being a fugitive from justice and for misdemeanor charges of theft, obstructing official business, driving under a suspended license, breach of recognizance and possession of drugs. Springer was arrested on State Route 60 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Jan 07 at 3:30 am.

Jesse Lee Morgan, age 23, 6235 Zehman Drive, Brook Park, OH, for violating the terms of his probation, a felony. Morgan was picked up at the Cuyahoga County Jail by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Jan 07 at 3:45 pm.

Paul Franklin Newbanks, age 49, 7923 Veto Road, Belpre, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Newbanks was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Reynolds and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Jan 07 at 7:40 pm.

Jason Edward Hughes, age 27, PO Box 942, Peterson, WV, for burglary and theft, both misdemeanors. Hughes was picked up in Doddridge County, WV Jail by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Jan 07 at 11:12 am.
