On 14 Jan 07 Deputy Sheriff Morris issued
a citation to Eric J. Friar, age 25, 95 Timmer Drive, Sparta,
MI, for traveling 85 mph in a 65 mph zone. Deputy Morris stopped
Mr. Friar near milepost six on Interstate 77 Drive in Muskingum
Township.
On 14 Jan 07 Diane Drost, age 43, 1980 Silver
Globe Road, Marietta, reported that sometime since 17 Dec 06
an unknown suspect(s) broke a window to enter the vacant home
for which she is the caretaker at 1960 Silver Globe Road. Once
inside the suspect(s) broke off and stole the copper piping
from the basement hot water heater and water softener, leaving
water spraying throughout the room. This case remains under
investigation (515).
On 14 Jan 07 Gary Gribble, age 58, 2941 Lake
Road, Fleming, reported at some point during the past two weeks
a Colt Mustang handgun was stolen from an upstairs closet in
his home. This case remains under investigation (1001).
On 14 Jan 07 Sgt. Gherke and Deputy Sheriff
Smeeks responded to a domestic dispute at 2408 Robinson Hill
Road, Marietta. Mary T. Scharff, age 50, stated she returned
home shortly after her live-in boyfriend Brian E. Lovett, age
49, was banned from the Outskirts bar for arguing with a male
that spoke to her. At that time, Mr. Lovett began screaming,
refused to allow her in the residence and shoved her onto the
deck causing her face to land in a pile of dog feces. Mr. Lovett
continued to yell as he held her down. Because Ms. Scharff
indicated she was in fear for her safety during the incident,
Sgt. Gherke arrested him for domestic violence and transported
him to the Washington County Jail.
On 14 Jan 07 Jeff Lang, age 46, 35 Gunclub
Road, Lowell, reported five log chains and ratchet binders
were stolen from where they were hanging on his semi-truck
sometime during the past three days. This case remains under
investigation (1090).
On 14 Jan 07 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued
a citation to James R. Campbell, age 33, Campbell Street, Coolville,
for possession of marijuana. Deputy Smeeks stopped Mr. Campbell
for having an inoperable headlight on US 50 near Federal Road
in Little Hocking when his canine indicated the presence of
drugs in the vehicle.
On 14 Jan 07 Kenneth S. Eddy, 2015 Newells
Run Road, Newport, reported the driver of an unknown white
vehicle struck the passenger side of his Ford Ranger while
it was parked on the left side of Maple Street in Newport that
evening and caused functional damage. This incident remains
under investigation (1299).

wAS processed into the Washington County Jail:
Brian Earl Lovett, age 49, 2408 Robinson Hill Road, Marietta,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Lovett was arrested at
his residence by Sgt. Gherke of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14
Jan 07 at 4:13 am.
