On 7 Jan 07 Deputy Sheriff Staats investigated a minor embroilment involving John R. Ettinger, age 39, and Tonya N. Reed, age 34, both of 46 Hickory Drive, Little Hocking. A witness stated she broke up the fight, during which Ms. Reed slapped Mr. Ettinger and he retaliated by throwing her to the ground. As a result, Deputy Staats requested summonses for Mr. Ettinger and Ms. Reed for disorderly conduct by fighting.

On 7 Jan 07 Virginia Helm, age 40, 108 Howard Street, Marietta, reported being pushed by her ex-husband Michael T. Helm, age 43, 125 Nolan Circle, Marietta, during an argument. Bickering over a gym bag, Mr. Helm pushed his ex-wife into an entertainment center and attempted to tear a telephone off the wall. When questioned by Deputy Sheriff Staats, Mr. Helm admitted his role in the incident. As a result, Deputy Staats arrested Mr. Helm for domestic violence and transported to the Washington County Jail.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

James Albert Porter, age 57, 14568 State Route 7, Waterford, for OVI, driving left of center and for not wearing a seat belt, all misdemeanors. Porter was arrested on Waterford Road by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jan 07 at 1:30 am.

Beatrice Kay Chidester, age 47, 210 ½ Spring Street, Marietta, for criminal trespassing, a misdemeanor. Chidester was arrested on Greene Street in Marietta by Patrolman Heddleston of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jan 07 at 1:47 pm.

Michael Thomas Helm, age 43, 125 Nolan Circle, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Helm was arrested at the Fourth Street Sheriff’s Office by Deputy Sheriff Staats and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jan 07 at 5:00 pm.
