On 4 Jan 07 Deputy Sheriffs Smeeks and Morris conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that failed to stop at a flashing light on Greene Street. Noticing a strong odor of burnt marijuana, Deputy Smeeks initiated an exterior search of the vehicle with his canine. The drug dog Dutch indicated the presence of narcotics, prompting a search of the vehicle that yielded a bag containing a chunky white substance that tested positive for cocaine. When questioned, the driver of the vehicle, Deandre L. Jones, age 20, 1006 14th Street, Parkersburg, admitted the bag was his. As a result, Mr. Jones was arrested for possession of cocaine and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 4 Jan 07 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks arrested Dennis C. Crockett, age 29, Third Street, Marietta, for carrying a concealed weapon and for driving under a suspended license. Stopped for stopping abruptly and pulling to the berm on State Route 7 without signaling, Mr. Crockett was identified as having a license suspended for a drug offense conviction. Additionally, Deputy Smeeks discovered a pair of brass knuckles in Mr. Crockett’s pocket during a pat down for weapons. Also charged, Marc A. Crockett, age 26, 430 Robinson Hill Road, Marietta, was issued a minor misdemeanor citation for having an open container of alcohol. A half full bottle of Budweiser was found under Mr. Crockett’s seat during the traffic stop.

On 4 Jan 07 Deputy Sheriff Evans issued a citation to Rachel L. Farcus, age 23, 31 Euclid Drive, Athens, for traveling 91 mph in a 50 mph zone. Deputy Evans stopped Ms. Farcus on US 50 near Clement Avenue in Belpre Township.

On 4 Jan 07 an employee of Promanco, 27823 State Route 7, Marietta, reported another employee at the Kardex property witnessed a maroon minivan drove through and damaged the grass the previous evening. This case remains under investigation (500).

On 4 Jan 07, at the intersection of Greene Street in Colegate Drive, Deputy Sheriff Staats conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for following another vehicle too closely. Asked to provide identification as a passenger in the vehicle, John D. O’Brien, age 24, 7305 State Route 26, Marietta, provided a false name to avoid arrest for an outstanding warrant. During the stop Deputy Staats’ canine Barney indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle. The resultant search yielded a pipe with crack residue in Mr. O’Brien’s sock. At that time Mr. O’Brien revealed his true identity, was arrested for obstruction of justice and possession of drug paraphernalia and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 4 Jan 07 Stacy R. Robinson, age 38, 8175 St. Mary’s Avenue, Marietta, reported while he was incarcerated a family member misappropriated the proceeds of his father’s life insurance and did not use it to pay funeral expenses. This case remains under investigation (905).

the Sheriff’s Office received the following warrants:

Robert L. Trout, age 28, 304 Blennerhassett Avenue Lot 8, Belpre, for violating the terms of his probation by failing to appear for a scheduled appointment.

Carl N. Robison, age 39, 725 Front Street, Marietta, for failing to appear to serve thirty days in jail on 14 Dec 06.

Jassandra Johnston, age 26, 810 Mount Tom Road, Marietta, for violating the terms of her probation.

Marvin R. Ruble Jr., age 34, 29A Garage Avenue, Waterford, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on an order to show cause on 19 Dec 06.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

John David O’Brien Jr., age 24, 7305 State Route 26, Marietta, for possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing official business and for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, all misdemeanors. O’Brien was arrested at the intersection of Colegate and Greene Street in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Staats and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Jan 07 at 12:45 am.

Kelly Anne O’Connor, age 42, 5977 Northern Pine Street, Columbus, for OVI, for failing to change lanes for a stopped emergency vehicle and for having an open container of alcohol, all misdemeanors. O’Connor was arrested near milepost nine on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Jan 07 at 2:05 am.

Deandre Leon Jones, age 20, 1006 14th Street, Parkersburg, for possession of drugs, a felony. Jones was arrested in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Morris and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Jan 07 at 2:10 am.

Adam Hamilton Gordon, age 27, 140 ½ Fifth Avenue, Lancaster, for driving under a suspended license and for speeding, both misdemeanors. Gordon was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Huffman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Jan 07 at 2:20 am.

Dennis Charles Crockett, age 29, Third Street, Marietta, for carrying a concealed weapon, driving under a suspended license and for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, all misdemeanors. Crockett was arrested on State Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Jan 07 at 3:45 am.

Jay David Camp, age 32, 639 Phillips Street, Marietta, for obstruction of justice and for having an open container of alcohol, both misdemeanors. Camp was arrested on State Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Jan 07 at 4:10 am.
