On 16 Dec 06 Lt. Wilson issued a citation
to Darrell W. Edens, age 26, George II Highway SE, Winnabow,
NC, for driving under a suspended license. Lt. Wilson stopped
Mr. Edens on US 50 near Main Street in Belpre Township.
On 16 Dec 06 Deputy Sheriff Staats issued
a citation to Steven M. Madsen Jr., age 26, 7648 Mulberry Walk,
Poland, OH, for traveling 80 mph in a 65 mph zone. Deputy Staats
stopped Mr. Madsen near milepost ten on Interstate 77 in Salem
Township.
On 16 Dec 06 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes arrested
Bradley V. McMaster, age 60, 131 Groves Avenue, Marietta, for
possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana. Deputy Rhodes
stopped Mr. McMaster for a traffic violation on Gilman Avenue
and immediately noticed an odor of burnt marijuana. During
an ensuing search of Mr. McMaster’s vehicle Deputy Rhodes
located two unidentified pills, marijuana and a powder substance
that tested positive for cocaine.
On 16 Dec 06 Deputy Sheriff Evans arrested
William L. Morgenstern, age 37, 9042 Walton Road, Sagamore
Hills, OH, for OVI. Stopped for weaving in and out of his lane,
Mr. Morgenstern slurred his speech and admitted drinking ten
beers in a two hour time span. Following his poor performance
on field sobriety tests Mr. Morgenstern was transported to
the Washington County Jail where he refused a BAC test.
On 16 Dec 06 a thirteen year old Marietta
resident reported being assaulted by another student on the
school bus two days ago. The juvenile stated the assault by
the sixteen year old assailant was unprovoked and witnessed
by several other students. The suspect admitted punching the
thirteen year old over an incident that transpired several
days ago and issued a summons to appear in Juvenile Court for
being delinquent.
On 16 Dec 06 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks requested
a summons for a seventeen year old Vincent resident for being
delinquent. The teenager was operating a vehicle the previous
evening with a blood alcohol content of .045 and also possessed
two unopened and two empty cans of Busch Light.
On 16 Dec 06 Mark R. Miller, age 41, 68 Moreland
Road, Belpre, reported discovering an abandoned Jeep stuck
in the creek along a logging road on his property at 124 Hoover
Road, Vincent. Deputy Sheriff Rhodes determined the vehicle
was reported stolen from North Carolina and impounded the Jeep
pending its return to the owner.
On 16 Dec 06 Corrections Officers discovered
a flattened piece of metal hidden in the bunk of an inmate
at the jail and could possibly have been used as a weapon.
When questioned about the item in his bunk, Jackie L. Fawbush,
age 32, 1629 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus, admitted fashioning
the item from a pencil sharpener but claimed its use was not
malicious. Despite Mr. Fawbush’s claim, evidence supporting
a charge of possessing a deadly weapon in a detention facility
will be sent to the Prosecutor’s Office for grand jury
consideration.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Adam Joseph Bleile, age 23, PO Box 767, Norwalk, OH, for OVI
and for having an open container of alcohol, both misdemeanors.
Bleile was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16
Dec 06 at 12:28 am.
William L. Morgenstern, age 37, 9042 Walton Road, Sagamore
Hills, OH, for OVI, a misdemeanor. Morgenstern was arrested
on State Route 145 by Deputy Sheriff Evans and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 16 Dec 06 at 1:25 am.
Bradley Vernon McMaster, age 60, 131 Groves Avenue, Marietta,
for felony and misdemeanor charges of possession of drugs.
McMaster was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 Dec 06
at 5:15 pm.
