On 1 Dec 06 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes requested
a summons for a fifteen year old Belpre resident to appear
in Juvenile Court for being delinquent. The teenager’s
grandmother, who has custody of her grandson, stated she found
marijuana, a smoking pipe, tweezers and cigar papers. The juvenile
admitted the items were his and that he has been smoking marijuana
for the past three years.
On 1 Dec 06 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks requested
a summons for a seventeen year old Beach Drive resident to
appear in Juvenile Court for being delinquent. Smelling an
odor of burnt marijuana during a traffic stop, Deputy Smeeks
conducted an exterior canine search of the vehicle. Once the
canine Dutch indicated the presence of drugs, Deputy Smeeks
searched the vehicle and discovered marijuana residue in the
center console, a piece of marijuana bud, rolling papers and
eye drops.
On 1 Dec 06 Deputy Sheriff Staats issued a
citation to John H. Parson, age 54, 180 Main Street, Vincent,
for traveling 69 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Staats stopped
Mr. Parson near milepost nineteen on State Route 550 in Warren
Township.
On 1 Dec 06 Deputy Sheriff Reynolds arrested
James S. Campbell, age 37, 555 Eyermann Road, Belpre, for OVI
and for driving outside the marked lanes of travel. Noticing
Mr. Campbell swerving in and out of his lane, Deputy Reynolds
conducted the traffic stop on Eyermann Road near State Route
339. Despite his claim he consumed only two beers Mr. Campbell
had a strong odor of alcohol and performed poorly on field
sobriety tests. Mr. Campbell tested .154% BAC when transported
to the Washington County Jail.
On 1 Dec 06 Deputy Sheriff Morris issued a
citation to Matthew A. McLeish, age 24, 184 Cats Creek Road,
Lowell, for driving under a suspended license and for not wearing
a seat belt. Deputy Morris stopped Mr. McLeish on Millers Lane
near Hadley Hollow Road in Marietta Township.
On 1 Dec 06 the administrator of Camp Hervida
reported the same individual issued the organization five bad
checks totaling $503 during a bingo fundraiser on 29 Aug 06.
This case remains under investigation (8411).
On 1 Dec 06 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks arrested
Caleb S. Westbrook, age 23, 2050 Federal Road, Little Hocking,
for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Mr. Westbrook was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Aaron
S. Bryan, age 23, 2101 Pennsylvania Avenue, Parkersburg, that
was stopped on Washington Boulevard for having expired tags.
Deputy Smeeks’ canine indicated the presence of drugs
in the vehicle and a subsequent search of Mr. Westbrook yielded
marijuana and rolling papers. Mr. Bryan was issued a citation
for the license plate infraction.

Apt. D, Williamstown, for falsification for misleading a peace
officer on 17 Jul 06.
Andrew W. Hutchins, age 18, 8506 Garfield Street, New Marshfield,
for the theft of a Corona laser pointer from Par Mar #14 on
7 Oct 06.
Randall L. Schwendeman, age 47, 184 Cats Creek Road, Lowell,
for issuing a bad check for $60 to Sponey’s IGA on 8
Jul 06.
Daniel P. Williams, age 19, 1091 State Route 339, Belpre,
for receiving stolen property on 6 Aug 06.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Cody Justin Cline, age 26, 4103 Jackson Run Road, New Matamoras,
for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Cline
was arrested at the Locker Room in Marietta by Patrolman McCracken
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 1 Dec 06 at 1:15 am.
James Scott Campbell, age 37, 555 Eyermann Road, Belpre, for
.08 breath OVI and for driving outside the marked lanes of
travel, both misdemeanors. Campbell was arrested on State Route
339 by Deputy Sheriff Reynolds and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 1 Dec 06 at 3:45 am.
Caleb Seth Westbrook, age 23, 2050 Federal
Road, Little Hocking, for possession of drug paraphernalia,
possession of drugs and for failure to appear, all misdemeanors.
Westbrook was arrested on Washington Boulevard in Belpre by
Deputy Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 1 Dec 06 at 3:00 pm.
Dallas Wiley Farnsworth, age 33, 266 Muskingum Drive, Marietta,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Farnsworth was arrested on Putnam Avenue
in Marietta by Patrolman Arbaugh of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
1 Dec 06 at 6:50 pm.
Leslie Yvonne Carter, age 34, 1241 Woodland Drive, Charleston,
for driving under an FRA suspended license and for speeding,
both misdemeanors. Carter was arrested on Interstate 77 by
the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 1 Dec 06 at 6:56 pm.
Chance Zebidee Glover, age 20, 6688 State Route 555, Little
Hocking, for underage consumption of alcohol, a misdemeanor.
Glover was arrested at Marietta College by Officer Smithberger
of the Marietta College Police Department and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 1 Dec 06 at 10:10 pm.
Shawn Michael Faddis, age 24, 65571 State Route 124, Reedsville,
for felony charges of breaking and entering and theft and for
a misdemeanor charge of violating the terms of his probation.
Faddis was picked up at the Athens County line by Deputy Sheriff
Reynolds and processed into the Washington County Jail on 1
Dec 06 at 10:50 pm.
Scotty Lee Tippy, age 25, 65571 State Route 124, Reedsville,
for breaking and entering and theft, both felonies. Tippy was
picked up at the Athens County line by Deputy Sheriff Reynolds
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 1 Dec 06 at
10:50 pm.
