On 17 Aug 06 Deputy Sheriff Morris conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 77 for a speeding violation. Unable to positively identify the driver or passenger without dates of birth or social security numbers using the names they gave, Deputy Morris separated the two female occupants for questioning. Thereafter, the driver identified herself as Amanda G. Joyner, age 21, 2813 Second Street NW, Canton, and stated because she had a suspended license she asked her passenger Letitia M. Barr, age 23, 9014 Ragersville Alley, Sugarcreek, OH, to switch identities. As a result of their ineffective ruse Ms. Joyner and Ms. Barr were arrested and charged with obstructing official business and transported to the Washington County Jail. Additionally, Ms. Joyner was charged with driving under a suspended license.

On 17 Aug 06 an employee of Coca Cola, Seventh Street, Zanesville, reported when he appeared to service the coin operated soda machine outside the Marietta Cycle Center he noticed the machine’s door was partially open. Upon further inspection he also noted the money box containing the dollar bills was missing, a loss of approximately $300. This case remains under investigation (945).

On 17 Aug 06 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes issued a minor misdemeanor citation to Jesse M. Knight IV, age 25, 1496 East 107th Street, Cleveland, for possession of marijuana. Stopping Mr. Knight on Interstate 77 for following a vehicle too closely, Deputy Rhodes located a plastic container of marijuana after a canine indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle.

On 17 Aug 06 Lt. Wilson and Deputy Sheriff Stackpole stopped a vehicle traveling southbound on Interstate 77 for not signaling a lane change and speeding. Conducting a canine search of the vehicle, the canine handled by Patrolman Hickey of the Marietta City Police Department indicated the presence of drugs on the passenger side. For his safety Lt. Wilson patted down the suspect, who identified himself as Robert Ray, for weapons and found an unlabeled prescription bottle in Mr. Ray’s pocket. A further search yielded identification indicating Mr. Ray was actually Thomas R. Paul, age 26, 1176 Greenwood Street, Zanesville. Mr. Paul then stated he gave a false name because he knew he had an active warrant for his arrest. Deputies also discovered rolling papers and marijuana in Mr. Paul’s possession. As a result, Mr. Paul was charged possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing official business and possession of drugs and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 17 Aug 06 Deputy Sheriff Mankins requested summonses for juvenile delinquency for sixteen and seventeen year old residents of Mineral Wells, WV and for sixteen and seventeen year old residents of Parkersburg. Deputy Mankins was investigating a report of a fight on Gantsville Road in Little Hocking when he observed the juveniles in the presence of a large quantity of beer. All of the suspects subsequently registered positive results for alcohol when administered a portable breath test.

On 17 Aug 06 an employee of Pioneer Chevrolet, 1315 Pike Street, Marietta, reported the business received two bad checks totaling $1,000 for the down payment of a 2003 Chevy S-10 on 21 and 29 Jun 06. This case remains under investigation (8411).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Eric Michael Glidden, age 25, 46481 Groves Hill Road, Caldwell, for driving under a suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia and for not wearing a seat belt, all misdemeanors. Glidden was arrested near milepost four on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 06 at 1:00 am.

Letitia Marie Barr, age 23, 9014 Ragersville Alley, Sugarcreek, OH, for obstructing official business, a misdemeanor. Barr was arrested near milepost two on Interstate 77 by Deputy Sheriff Morris and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 06 at 1:25 am.

Amanda Gail Joyner, age 21, 2813 Second Street NW, Canton, for driving under a suspended license and for obstructing official business, both misdemeanors. Joyner was arrested near milepost two on Interstate 77 by Deputy Sheriff Morris and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 06 at 1:25 am.

Carl Matthew Buechner, age 44, 1300 County Road 6, Tiffin, OH, for .17 breath OVI and for making an illegal u-turn, both misdemeanors. Buechner was arrested on Pike Street in Marietta by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 06 at 3:45 am.

Shanna Alexia Lennox, age 19, 2255 Blue Knob Road, Marietta, for violating the terms of her probation, a felony. Lennox was arrested on State Route 7 by Major Winstanley of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 06 at 2:35 pm.

Thomas Robert Paul, age 26, 1176 Greenwood Street, Zanesville, for a felony charge of possession of drugs and misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing official business, contempt of a court order and possession of drugs. Paul was arrested on Interstate 77 by Lt. Wilson of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 06 at 2:41 pm.

Matthew James Cornell, age 22, 124 Dean Street, Marietta, for failure to appear, for driving under an FRA suspended license and for having fictitious plates, all misdemeanors. Cornell was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Hively of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 06 at 3:00 pm.

John Neverez Jr., age 33, 3597 Ariel Drive, Columbus, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Neverez was picked up at the Franklin County Jail by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 06 at 5:00 pm.

Chris Allen Coriel, age 28, 1985 North Street, Stockport, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Coriel was arrested on Luke Chute Road by Officer Wadley of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Aug 06 at 11:28 pm.
