On 27 Jul 06 Lt. Huffer and Deputy Sheriff
Malone responded to a report phoned in by Amy Smithberger,
age 19, 104 Riverview Road, Marietta, that a friend was driving
her Pontiac Grand Am without permission. At the scene, 221
Robinson Hill Road, Marietta, Ms. Smithberger stated she returned
from drinking in Marietta with her boyfriend and friends Michael
A. Hartley, age 18, 1000 Wiles Drive, Dayton, and Chase L.
Simmons, age 20, 65 Sunset Lane, Waterford. Unbeknownst to
Ms. Smithberger, Mr. Hartley, who does not have a valid license,
entered her vehicle and started the car. When Mr. Hartley began
driving Ms. Smithberger jumped in front of the vehicle, at
which time the right front tire ran over her left foot. As
a result of the incident Mr. Simmons and Ms. Smithberger were
issued summonses for underage consumption of alcohol and Mr.
Hartley was arrested and charged with underage consumption
of alcohol, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and negligent
assault.
On 27 Jul 06 Deputy Sheriff Reynolds issued
a citation to Elizabeth A. Carlisle, age 52, 242 Newfield Circle,
Medina, OH, for traveling 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Reynolds
stopped Ms. Carlisle on State Route 7 near Gravel Bank Road
in Warren Township.
On 27 Jul 06 Deputy Sheriff Reynolds issued
a citation to William L. Sprouse, age 43, 715 29th Street,
Parkersburg, for pulling a trailer with an expired license
plate. Deputy Reynolds stopped Mr. Sprouse on State Route 7
at Gravel Bank Road in Warren Township.
On 27 Jul 06 Lt. Wilson and Deputy Sheriff
Wilson conducted a traffic stop on Caywood Road and State Route
26. A male passenger identified himself as Patrick S. Barnhart,
age 22. Notified by Dispatch that Patrick Barnhart did not
have a tattoo and was 6’ 2”, Lt. Wilson observed
this subject was considerably shorter at 5’ 8”,
had a tribal tattoo and had other physical descriptors matching
that of his brother Matthew J. Barnhart, age 24, 761 Mount
Tom Road, Marietta. While Lt. Wilson waited for a photo to
arrive to provide positive identification the suspect admitted
he was in fact, Matthew Barnhart and lied because he had an
active warrant and did not want to go to jail. In consequence,
Lt. Wilson arrested Mr. Barnhart for the active warrant and
obstructing official business and transported him to the Washington
County Jail.
the Sheriff’s
Office received the following warrants:
Michael D. Bundy, age 31, 304 Blennerhassett
Avenue Lot 11, Belpre, for failing to appear for a court ordered
hearing on 22 Jul 06.
Christopher Callihan, age 30, 501 Second Street, Marietta,
for failing to appear for a court ordered hearing on 22 Jul
06.
Terry W. Gilley, age 21, 911 Hickory Street, Princeton, WV,
for failing to appear for a court ordered hearing on 22 Jul
06.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Michael Allen Hartley, age 18, 1000 Wiles
Drive, Dayton, for underage consumption of alcohol, unauthorized
use of a motor vehicle and negligent assault, all misdemeanors.
Hartley was arrested on Robinson Hill Road by Deputy Sheriff
Malone and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27
Jul 06 at 6:00 am.
Matthew Jason Barnhart, age 761 Mount Tom
Road, Marietta, for obstructing official business and for failure
to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, both
misdemeanors. Barnhart was arrested on Caywood Road in Marietta
by Lt. Wilson of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Jul 06
at 3:45 pm.
Angela Dawn Day, age 28, 565 BF Goodrich Road, Marietta, for
failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines,
a misdemeanor. Day was arrested near milepost two on Waterford
Road by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 27 Jul 06 at 6:40 pm.
