On 22 Jul 06 Peggy A. Hamilton, age 56, 1215
State Route 339, Belpre, reported when she returned home from
a weekend holiday with her boyfriend she noticed the doors
of her two storage buildings were standing ajar. Examining
the buildings, Ms. Hamilton determined an unknown suspect(s)
pried the doors open and stole from inside: two lawnmowers,
three weed eaters, a tiller, two gas containers and a window
air conditioner. This case remains under investigation (200).
On 22 Jul 06 Deputy Sheriffs Morris and Simmons
were dispatched to 31171 State Route 7, Marietta, to investigate
a report of domestic violence. The victim, Lisa D. Davis, age
44, 118 Reynoldson Road, Gates, NC, informed the Deputies that
she is staying with her daughter Melissa Haessly, age 26, pending
her daughter’s upcoming nuptials. The joyous occasion
transmogrified when Ms. Haessly, who was intoxicated after
attending a bridal shower that afternoon, instigated an argument
with her mother. Ms. Haessly ordered her mother to leave the
residence but when Ms. Davis began packing her belongings Ms.
Haessly mauled her. While Ms. Davis tended to the number of
scratches to her neck and face Deputy Morris arrested Ms. Haessly
for domestic violence and transported her to the Washington
County Jail.
On 22 Jul 06 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes arrested
Donald L. Lilly Jr., age 40, 902 Park Street, Beverly, for
OVI and for having a faulty equipment light. On State Route
339 Deputy Rhodes stopped the vehicle and noticed an odor of
alcohol on Mr. Lilly. Submitting to sobriety tests with poor
results, Mr. Lilly was transported to the Washington County
Jail where he tested .162% BAC.
On 22 Jul 06, while investigating what originally
was a damaging complaint, Deputy Sheriff Eddy concluded a domestic
dispute occurred at 945 Dodd Run Road, Marietta. A quarrel
between Jill McCarty, age 38, and her husband John, age 31,
began that morning and continued for over ninety minutes after
Mrs. McCarty returned home from work. At one point Mr. McCarty
struck his wife, forced her to the bed and bounced her head
off the mattress as he held her by the ears. Leaving the home
to cool down, Mr. McCarty reentered the home to retrieve some
belongings and Mrs. McCarty swung a sword at a glass model
case. Mr. McCarty wrestled the sword away from his wife but
freed her hands and allowed her to punch him in the process.
Unable to identify either party as the primary aggressor, Deputy
Eddy arrested both Mr. and Mrs. McCarty for domestic violence
and transported them to the Washington County Jail.

Sterling Houston Roberts, age 23, 1852 Surreal Trail Apt.
4, Bellbrook, OH, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Roberts
was arrested on Front Street in Marietta by Patrolman Linscott
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 22 Jul 06 at 1:52 am.
Amanda May Browning, age 37, 788 Westbourne Avenue, Zanesville,
for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Browning
was arrested near milepost twenty on State Route 60 by the
Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 22 Jul 06 at 11:57 am.
Melissa Lynn Haessly, age 26, 31171 State Route 7, Marietta,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Haessly was arrested
at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Morris and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 22 Jul 06 at 11:40 pm.
