On 4 Jul 06 Lt. Wilson and Deputy Sheriff
Reynolds received information that an individual with a warrant
for failing to appear in court was present at a residence on
Seventh Street in Marietta. Identifying the suspect sitting
on the porch as Johnny W. Johnson, age 23, 1350 Long Run Road,
Newport, Lt. Wilson approached him and asked for identification.
As Mr. Johnson fled into the residence Lt. Wilson grabbed the
suspect’s shirt and was punched in the left arm as Mr.
Johnson tried to escape. The pursuit continued out the back
door and into the yard, around a parked car and ceasing shortly
thereafter again in the yard. Mr. Johnson repeatedly ignored
commands to lie on the ground and forced Lt. Wilson to deploy
his Taser in order to gain compliance. In addition to being
served with the warrant Mr. Johnson was charged with a felony
count of assault of a police officer and misdemeanor counts
of resisting arrest and possession of four pills of Darvocet.
