On 7 Jun 06 Deputy Sheriff Mankins arrested Stephen McAteer, age 32, 545 Goucher Street Apt. 19, Johnstown, PA, for .08 breath OVI. Mr. McAteer had an odor of alcohol, performed poorly on field sobriety tests and tested .136% BAC when transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 7 Jun 06 Sgt. Hiatt and Lt. Wilson were dispatched to the scene of a domestic altercation at 470 Cornerville Road, Reno. Peggy E. Chidester, age 60, stated she and her husband Kenneth, age 58, were arguing over his vehicle when he picked up a wooden stick and struck her in the forehead and that he also knocked down the bathroom door. After being read his Miranda Rights, Mr. Chidester admitted hitting his wife with the stick but claimed he only did so after she struck him with it first. Unable to substantiate Mr. Chidester’s claim, Sgt. Hiatt arrested him for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 7 Jun 06 an employee of the Washington County Juvenile Detention Center, 1699 Colegate Drive, Marietta, reported a seventeen and a sixteen year old walked away work crew that was picking up trash near milepost 12.5 on State Route 7. Deputy Sheriff McLeish arrived with his canine and tracked the juveniles within as few hundred yards of Calder Ridge Road and spotted the suspects flee into a wooded area near Briggs Hill Road. From Briggs Hill Road the two males were tracked to an old white shed under which the two were located hiding. The probation officers of the two juveniles will conduct follow up on this case with appropriate charges.

On 7 Jun 06 Deputy Sheriff Morris investigated an assault that transpired at 6466 Germantown Road, Lower Salem. The victim, Jerrie L. Rastorfer, age 47, stated she was outside her residence when Brenda Travis, age 43, 26935 State Route 7, Marietta, arrived in her vehicle, got out and began yelling, accusing her of sleeping with her husband. Mrs. Travis charged toward Ms. Rastorfer, pulled her hair and began punching her in the face. Ms. Rastorfer fell to the ground, gripped at the neck by Mrs. Travis and ordered to stay away from Mrs. Travis’ husband or she would kill her. Confirming the chain of events with witnesses, Deputy Morris requested a summons for Mrs. Travis for assault.

Daniel E. Barber, age 19, 243 BR 681, Reedsville, OH, for operating without a license on 4 Jan 06, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines and for breach of recognizance on 13 Jan 06

Evelyn A. Castle, age 52, Route 40, Inez, KY, for failing to appear for a change of plea hearing on 31 May 06.

Jeremy D. Curran, age 22, 190 Fourth Street, Lowell, for furnishing alcohol to three minors on 22 Apr 06.

Jason Daugherty, age 23, 4420 14th Avenue, Parkersburg, for failing to appear for a hearing on 18 May 06.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Jason Todd Bailey, age 30, 12260 State Route 550, Vincent, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Bailey was arrested at the Four Seasons by Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 06 at 1:00 am.

Kenneth Forest Chidester, age 58, 470 Cornerville Road, Reno, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Chidester was arrested at his residence by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 06 at 2:10 am.

Ronald Desantis, age 43, PO Box 2212, Streetsboro, OH, for .08 breath OVI and driving left of center, both misdemeanors. Desantis was arrested on County House Lane by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 06 at 3:30 am.

Kenneth Eugene Wriston, age 31, 314 Harmar Street, Marietta, for menacing and for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, both misdemeanors. Wriston was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Blasko of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 06 at 4:15 am.

Stephen McAteer, age 32, 545 Goucher Street Apt. 19, Johnstown, PA, for .08 breath OVI, a misdemeanor. McAteer was arrested on Alta Street in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 06 at 5:30 am.

Dennis Edward Shahan Sr., age 44, 1215 Putnam Howe Drive, Belpre, for violating the terms of his parole, a felony. Shahan was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Smith and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 06 at 9:15 am.

Joshua Clevelan Sinkfield, age 34, 1202 County House Lane Apt. H, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Sinkfield was arrested at his residence by Probation Officer Hamilton and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 06 at 3:10 pm.

Ella May Newlon, age 58, 1185 Zion Ridge Road, Marietta, for driving under an FRA suspended license, a misdemeanor. Newlon was arrested on State Route 26 by Deputy Sheriff McLeish and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 06 at 4:00 pm.

Larry Deane Best, age 33, 245 Masonic Park Road, Marietta, for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Best was arrested on State Route 60 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 06 at 5:35 pm.
