On 20 May 06 Deputy Sheriff Mankins arrested
Daniel J. Seaton, age 51, 4347 Xenophon Avenue, Tulsa, OK,
for .08 breath OVI and for driving outside the marked lanes
of travel. Mr. Barton performed poorly on field sobriety tests
and tested .162% BAC when transported to the Washington County
Jail.
On 20 May 06 Ethel J. Ball, age 48, 540 Tabor
Ridge Road, Lowell, reported eight head of cattle, which she
believes belong to her neighbor, damaged a newly seeded grass
along the side of her home. This case remains under investigation
(1203).
On 20 May 06 David R. Ludtman, age 47, 2190
Millers Lane, Marietta, phoned to report being involved in
an altercation with his neighbor Greg Dennison, age 45, 2180
Millers Lane, Marietta, and Mr. Dennison’s friend, Mark
A. Griffith, age 45, 296 Emmaus Road, Marietta. Arriving on
the scene, Deputy Sheriff Rhodes met with Mr. Ludtman who stated
that he confronted Mr. Dennison for shining a spotlight in
his bedroom window while he was trying to sleep. The confrontation
quickly accelerated from verbal to physical as Mr. Ludtman
elbowed Mr. Griffith in the chest and struck back as the two
fell to the ground. The brawl ended shortly thereafter when
Mr. Dennison struck Mr. Ludtman with a piece of firewood. Due
to each individual’s participation in the melee, Deputy
Rhodes requested summonses for all three for disorderly conduct
by fighting.
On 20 May 06 Patrick A. Huck, age 46, 370
Arends Ridge Road, Marietta, reported though tenants informed
him nothing appears missing, the locks of twenty-four storage
units at Triple H Storage and Devola Mini Storage. This case
remains under investigation (690, 1091).
On 20 May 06 Deputy Sheriff Morris issued
a citation to Janet M. Gibbs, age 35, 210 Lancaster Street,
Marietta, for not using a child restraint. Deputy Morris stopped
Ms. Gibbs at the intersection of Third and Greene Streets in
Marietta.
On 20 May 06 Deputy Sheriff Morris investigated
a report of a three year old child clad only in a t-shirt,
covered in mud and playing unsupervised in the road. The child
led Deputy Morris to his residence at 435 Calder Ridge Road,
Belpre, which Deputy Morris entered after announcing his presence
several times. Deputy Morris located the child’s mother,
Mary Wilson, age 35, asleep under blankets in her bedroom,
providing evidence countering her claim that she was watching
her son out the window. Also noting the interior of the house
was unsanitary, Deputy Morris released the child to his father,
arrested Mrs. Wilson for child endangerment and transported
her to the Washington County Jail.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Paul Russell Bennett, age 51, 419 Fourth Street Apt. B, Beverly,
for five misdemeanor counts of aggravated menacing. Bennett
was arrested in Beverly by Deputy Sheriff Simmons and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 20 May 06 at 1:23 am.

both misdemeanors. Seaton was arrested on State Route 7 by
Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 20 May 06 at 3:30 am.
Thomas Ira Valentine, age 24, 114 Sunset Drive, Marietta,
for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Valentine
was arrested at Taco Bell by Patrolman Hively of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 20 May 06 at 12:41 pm.
Brandon Ray Bowling, age 20, 29225 Grimm Road, Portland, OH,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Bowling was arrested on Main Street in
Belpre by Patrolman Smeeks of the Belpre City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 May 06
at 2:05 pm.
Mary Beth Wilson, age 25, 435 Calder Ridge Road, Belpre, for
child endangerment, a felony. Wilson was arrested at her residence
by Deputy Sheriff Morris and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 20 May 06 at 3:42 pm.
John Adam Drow, age 37, 1916 Delaware Avenue, Springfield,
OH, for operating without a license, driving under a suspended
license and failure to signal, all misdemeanors. Drow was arrested
on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 20 May 06 at 4:10 pm.
Bruce Alan Casto, age 47, 158 Gilman Avenue Lot 14, Marietta,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Casto was arrested at the corner of Greene
Street and Colegate Drive in Marietta by Detective Hawkins
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 20 May 06 at 10:46 pm.
