On 7 May 06 Michelle E. Crooks, age 50, 117
Woodrow Street, Marietta, reported being involved as the victim,
in a domestic dispute with her husband Douglas, age 50, on
3 May 06. An argument began with Mr. Crooks accused his wife
of stealing his guns and culminated in him striking and choking
her, leaving a number of contusions. In consequence, Deputy
Sheriff Rhodes arrested Mr. Crooks for domestic violence and
transported him to the Washington County Jail.
On 7 May 06 Jason D. Waite, age 32, 2835 State
Route 676, Stockport, reported a chainsaw was stolen from his
former residence down the road at 2955 State Route 676. Mr.
Waite left the saw in the partially burnt residence on 28 Apr
06 when he used it to saw burnt bedroom furniture to remove
it from the home. This case remains under investigation (296).
On 7 May 06 Cynthia A. Conger, age 49, 1305
Fourmile Creek Road, Coolville, reported an unknown suspect(s)
broke the basement door off an abandoned residence she owns
at 975 State Route 550, Bartlett. Missing from the home and
property where she and her family stores miscellaneous items
were: an Elgin boat motor, an aluminum john boat, a decorative
platter and six Depression era glasses. This case remains under
investigation (1203).
On 7 May 06 Deputy Sheriff Mankins stopped
a vehicle driven by Ralph C. Shumar Jr., age 40, 285 Whealdon
Drive, Cutler, once observing Mr. Shumar’s vehicle did
not have a front license plate. To corroborate his suspicion
of Mr. Shumar’s intoxication Deputy Mankins administered
field sobriety tests. His poor performance, coupled with a
breathalyzer reading over .17 resulted in Mr. Shumar’s
arrest and incarceration at the Washington County Jail.
On 7 May 06 the driver of a 1994 red Dodge
Caravan struck a chain link fence off the right side of Devol’s
Dam Road, .7 miles north of State Route 60. The driver of the
minivan then removed the license plates of the vehicle and
fled. This incident remains under investigation (597).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Ryan Phillip Doran, age 19, Marietta, for OVI, underage consumption
of alcohol and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors. Doran
was arrested on Butler Street by Officer Dietz of the Marietta
College Police Department and was processed into the Washington
County Jail on 7 May 06 at 5:25 am.
Cory Lee Bunner, age 18, 1323 Ridgeway Avenue, Parkersburg,
for breaking and entering, a felony. Bunner was arrested at
Civitan Park in Belpre by Patrolman Williams of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 7 May 06 at 6:10 am.
Zackery Edward Hobstetter, age 18, 111 Hope Hill Road, Parkersburg,
for complicity in breaking and entering, a felony. Hobstetter
was arrested at Civitan Park in Belpre by Patrolman Williams
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 7 May 06 at 6:10 am.
Douglas William Crooks Sr., age 50, 117 Woodrow Street, Marietta,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Crooks was arrested in
Lowell by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 7 May 06 at 5:10 pm.
Ralph C. Shumar Jr., age 40, 285 Whealdon Road, Cutler, for
.17 breath OVI, a misdemeanor. Shumar was arrested in Barlow
by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 7 May 06 at 8:00 pm.
Lewis Paul Lee, age 51, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by
intoxication, a misdemeanor. Lee was arrested at Go Mart in
Marietta by Patrolman Wenzel of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 May 06 at
11:45 pm.
