Detecting an odor of alcohol, Deputy Evans administered field sobriety tests on Jeffrey R. Burton, age 42, 120 Snearly Drive, Marietta, with poor results. While arresting Mr. Burton for OVI, Deputy Evans located a half consumed bottle of beer in the vehicle resulting in an additional charge of consuming alcohol in a vehicle. On 6 May 06 Velinda K. Berga, age 28, 425 Dodd Run Road, Marietta, reported $887 was stolen from her purse. Before she could reverse direction to retrieve her purse an individual driving a Chevy truck picked it up and drove off. Through the Chevy’s license plate number Deputy Mankins identified the culprit as Robert F. Heeter, age 54, 312 Harmar Street, Marietta. Confronted with eyewitness testimony, Mr. Heeter admitted taking the cash from the purse and spending a portion of the money at Advance Auto Parts.
