On 1 May 06, while making a check of the men’s
dormitory of the Washington County Jail, Corrections Officer
Lagasse investigated a complaint of an inmate singing loudly
in a foreign language. After speaking to the inmate Officer
Lagasse believed Jason H. Malone, age 28, 85 Forshey Road,
Reno, calmed down. Mr. Malone then stated when he was released
from jail he planned on giving four corrections officers a “hot
dot,” meaning the sensation one gets after being shot.
During a subsequent check of Mr. Malone’s dormitory,
one of the threatened officers reported seeing Mr. Malone make
a handgun gesture with his fingers. As a result of Mr. Malone’s
actions, Sgt. Carr requested summonses for Mr. Malone for four
counts of aggravated menacing.
On 1 May 06 Deputy Sheriff Morris issued a
citation to Leah M. Tolle, age 24, 652 Phillips Street Apt.
1, Marietta, for failure to obey a traffic control device.
Deputy Morris stopped Ms. Tolle after she failed to stop at
a flashing red light at the intersection of Cogswell Lane and
State Route 7 in Marietta.
On 1 May 06 David Money, age 71, 755 Taber
Ridge Road, Bartlett, was reported missing by a family member.
Mr. Money, who is mentally challenged, walked away from his
residence around noon. Participating in the search were the
Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 and Aviation Units as well
as other local agencies. The Aviation unit, piloted by Chief
Deputy Stephens, spotted Mr. Money nearly three hours later
and radioed his location to ground units.
On 1 May 06 Melissa K. Martin, age 20, 3185
Highland Ridge Road, Lowell, was traveling northbound on State
Route 821 north of State Route 60 when a deer jumped out from
the tree line into the passenger side of her Dodge Neon. Neither
Ms. Martin nor her passenger suffered injuries during the collision
that caused functional damage to her vehicle (1184).
On 1 May 06 Erica Earhart, age 18, 1110 Hocking
Road Apt. B, Belpre, reported when she awoke that morning she
noticed her vehicle’s trunk was open. Examining the vehicle,
Ms. Earhart deduced that an unknown suspect broke a passenger
side window, opened the trunk using a trunk release switch
an stole two speakers and a binder containing over a hundred
CD’s. This case remains under investigation (1090).
On 1 May 06 a thirty-three year old Lower
Salem resident reported for the last three months the rules
she and her husband instigated to discipline their fourteen
year old daughter have failed to correct her behavior. The
mother stated her daughter frequently leaves school without
permission, fails to abide by house rules and constantly picks
fights with her siblings. As a result of the juvenile’s
behavior, Sgt. Hiatt requested a summons for her to appear
in Juvenile Court for being unruly.
On 1 May 06 Gerald Harris, age 84, 255 Silver
Globe Road, Marietta, reported after his wife viewed what appeared
to be a bullet hole in their bedroom window he noticed a second
bullet hole in the siding of their home. This case remains
under investigation (1090).

Sheriff’s
Office received the following warrants:
Amber L. Sparks, age 24, 313 Franklin Street,
Marietta, for breach of recognizance for failing to complete
seventy hours of community service and for not paying court
costs.
Phillip E. Pope III, age 48, 896 Jones Avenue, Ravenna, OH,
for contempt for failing to appear on an order to show cause
on 17 Apr 06.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Charles Hiram Dockham II, age 53, 4540 Jack
Brown Road, Salisbury, NC, for carrying a concealed weapon
and speeding, both misdemeanors. Dockham was arrested on State
Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 1 May 06 at 6:00 am.
Robert Matthew Parrish, age 29, Caldwell,
for aggravated burglary, burglary and robbery, all felonies.
Parrish was picked up at the Noble Correctional Institution
by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 1 May 06 at 10:30 am.
Brian Russell Morgan, age 23, 106 Twila Court, Marietta, for
failure to appear, a felony. Morgan was picked up in Tuscarawas
County by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 1 May 06 at 3:40 pm.
