On 10 Apr 06 Angela Thomas, age 22, 836 Pike
Street Apt. 4, Marietta, reported her wallet was stolen from
inside her vehicle. In a related incident the previous evening
Deputy Sheriff Eddy assisted the Marietta City Police Department
in apprehending Eric W. Morris, age 24, 836 Pike Street Apt.
12, Marietta, for stealing an LCD monitor from K-Mart. Mr.
Morris allegedly attempted to use Ms. Thomas’ credit
card to purchase the monitor but when the transaction was declined,
he stole the item. Though Mr. Morris denied stealing Ms. Thomas’ wallet,
Deputy Eddy requested a summons for him for receiving stolen
property.
On 10 Apr 06 David T. Kaneff, age 78, 109
Lindsey Avenue, Marietta, reported his garbage can was stolen
from the end of his driveway while awaiting trash pickup during
the previous evening. This case remains under investigation
(1020).
On 10 Apr 06 Freddy L. Craig, age 62, 2090
Millers Lane, Marietta, reported his 1998 Chevy Silverado,
which was unlocked with the key in it, was stolen from his
driveway between 9 pm the previous evening and 6:45 that morning.
This case remains under investigation (1184).
On 10 Apr 06 an employee of Shelly and Sands
reported at some point since he left the company equipment
yard on Saturday afternoon, an unknown suspect(s) pried open
a door on a utility truck and stole a Stihl partner saw valued
at $800. This case remains under investigation (1184).
On 10 Apr 06 Carlos A. Graham, age 88, 16156
State Route 555, Bartlett, reported a neighbor called to inform
him two males driving a black truck just stole a pump jack
from his property on Patten Mills Road. Patrolling the vicinity
of the car crusher on Gravel Bank Road, Deputy Sheriff Hall
observed two males in a vehicle matching Mr. Graham’s
description. Deputy Hall noticed a pump jack in the bed of
the truck occupied by driver, David Timothy Close, age 35,
104 Race Street, Marietta, and passenger, Thurman Lee Smith,
age 36, 140 Franklin Street, Marietta. When questioned, both
men admitted taking the pump jack while not being permitted
to do so. Each suspect was arrested and transported to the
Washington County Jail for theft and criminal trespassing,
with Mr. Close also charged with driving under an FRA suspended
license.

failing to appear for pretrial on 1 Mar 06.
Gerald R. Erb, age 35, 20 Stacy Orchard Road, Marietta, for
the theft of brake pads from Isner Trucking on 6 Feb 06.
Ricky L. Howell, age 46, 630 Oak Street Lot 165, Mansfield,
OH, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing
on an order to show cause on 17 Mar 06.
Michele Hupp, age 33, 310 Main Street, Lowell, for disorderly
conduct by fighting on 27 Dec 05.
Kevin M. Hess, age 18, 288E Ridgewood Court, Marietta, for
failing to appear for a change of plea hearing on 7 Apr 06.
David J. Adams, age 31, 28 Boaz Gardens, Williamstown, for
contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on
an order to show cause on 21 Mar 06.
Eddie Merinar, age 33, 1576 Elizabeth Street Apt. B, Belpre,
for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing
on an order to show cause on 21 Mar 06.
Timothy A. Jarvis, age 31, 200 Pennock Drive Lot 39, Beverly,
for possession of drug paraphernalia on 28 Jan 06.
Jon E. Preston, age 25, 4814 15th Avenue,
Parkersburg, for violating the terms of his probation by failing
to pay his fines in full or to appear to serve ten days in
jail.
These individuals failed to appear for a debtor’s exam:
Thurman Lee Smith, age 36, 140 Franklin Street, Marietta, for
theft and criminal trespassing, both misdemeanors. Smith was
arrested on State Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff Hall and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 10 Apr 06 at 2:23 pm.
David Timothy Close, age 35, 104 Race Street, Marietta, for
theft and criminal trespassing, both misdemeanors. Close was
arrested on State Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff Hall and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 10 Apr 06 at 2:41 pm.
Brenton Dean Metz, age 22, 502 Fourth Street Apt. B, Williamstown,
for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Metz
was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Ketelsen and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Apr 06 at 3:04
pm.
Kevin Matthew Hess, age 18, 288 Ridgewood Court Apt. E, Marietta,
for offenses committed as a juvenile and for violating the terms
of his probation, both misdemeanors. Hess was arrested at the
Courthouse by Probation Officer Zimmerman and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 10 Apr 06 at 4:50 pm.
