On 24 Feb 06 Deputy Mankins observed a vehicle travel left of center and fail to signal when turning onto Veto Road from State Route 7 and conducted a traffic stop. Noticing an odor of alcohol on the driver, Kari Luton, age 30, 5 Mountaineer Trailer Court, Williamstown, Deputy Mankins administered field sobriety tests. Following Ms. Luton’s poor performance on the tests Deputy Mankins arrested her for OVI and transported her to the Washington County Jail.

On 24 Feb 06 Jerry O. Cousins Jr., age 30, 490 Culver Run Road, Waterford, reported finding six bags of garbage dumped along the roadway on his property at 7:20 am that morning. This case remains under investigation (695).

On 24 Feb 06 Barney M. Pickens, age 57, 1405 Cole-Coffman Road, Marietta, reported at some point during the past week a roll of copper wire was stolen from the bed of each of two trucks parked in his driveway. This case remains under investigation (695).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Kari Danette Luton, age 30, 5 Mountaineer Trailer Court, Williamstown, for .08 breath OVI, a misdemeanor. Luton was arrested on State Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Feb 06 at 2:40 am.

Jacob Martin Short, age 26, 310 Wooster Street, Marietta, for .17 breath OVI and for driving left of center, both misdemeanors. Short was arrested on Fourth Street by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Feb 06 at 3:00 am.

Wayne Edward Valentine, age 25, 1637 ½ 19th Street, Parkersburg, for driving under an FRA suspended license, not wearing a seat belt and for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, all misdemeanors. Valentine was arrested on State Route 550 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Feb 06 at 9:08 pm.
