On 4 Feb 06 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes conducted
a traffic stop on State Route 83 after witnessing a vehicle
swerving in its lane of travel. Despite the claim of the driver,
Stephen A. Henthorne, age 36, 18250 County Road 40, Caldwell,
that he drank only two beers, he performed poorly on field
sobriety tests. As a result, Deputy Rhodes arrested Mr. Henthorne
for OVI and driving left of center and transported him to the
Washington County Jail.
On 4 Feb 06 Sgt. Gherke and Deputy Sheriff
Rhodes responded to the scene of a domestic altercation at
2408 Robinson Hill Road, Marietta. Mary T. Decker-Scharff,
age 49, stated her live-in boyfriend Brian E. Lovett, age 48,
was inebriated and acting violently. She advised that he overturned
and shattered a glass top table, shoved her and struck her
in the chest when he threw a sex toy at her. Unable to locate
the suspect since he fled the scene, Deputy Rhodes requested
a summons for Mr. Lovett for domestic violence.
On 4 Feb 06 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes issued a
citation to Brittany S. Greenleaf, age 19, 2100B Hill Street,
Belpre, for traveling 77 mph in a 60 mph zone. Deputy Rhodes
stopped Ms. Greenleaf on US 50 near the intersection of Collins
Road in Belpre Township.
On 4 Feb 06 Sgt. Gherke and Deputy Sheriff
Stackpole investigated a report from the family of Cecil W.
Grimm, age 47, 8814 Veto Road, Belpre, that Mr. Grimm was acting
irrationally and threatening to shoot himself. The Deputies
observed Mr. Grimm in possession of a shotgun but were able
to coax him out of the residence without incident. Determined
to be intoxicated, Mr. Grimm was arrested for handling a weapon
while intoxicated and transported to the Washington County
Jail.
On 4 Feb 06 Deputy Sheriff Parks initiated
a traffic stop on State Route 7 in Newport following his observation
of a vehicle swerving outside its lane of travel. Answering
Deputy Parks’ question regarding his consumption of alcohol
the driver, Keith D. Tidd, age 19, 30720 State Route 7, Marietta,
first denied drinking any alcohol then recanted and stated
he consumed seven or eight drinks. His admission, coupled with
his poor performance on field sobriety tests, resulted in Mr.
Tidd being charged with OVI and driving left of center and
transported to the Washington County Jail.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Keith David Tidd, age 19, 30720 State Route 7, Marietta, for
OVI and for driving left of center, both misdemeanors. Tidd
was arrested on State Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff Parks and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 4 Feb 06 at 1:52 am.
Stephen Anthony Henthorn, age 36, 18260 County Road 40, Caldwell,
for OVI and for driving left of center, both misdemeanors.
Henthorn was arrested on Elk Run Road by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Feb 06 at
2:18 am.
Kenneth Wayne Farrington, age 47, 73 Dixon Road, Clinton,
ME, for OVI, for not wearing a seat belt and for failure to
obey the right of way, all misdemeanors. Farrington was arrested
on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 4 Feb 06 at 2:57 am.
David Allen Newlen, age 45, 1214 Williamson Avenue, New Matamoras,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Newlen was arrested at
his residence by Chief Travaglio of the New Matamoras Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
4 Feb 06 at 6:47 am.
Tracie Evonne Newlen, age 31, 1214 Williamson Avenue, New
Matamoras, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Newlen was
arrested at her residence by Chief Travaglio of the New Matamoras
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 4 Feb 06 at 7:24 am.
Cecil Wayne Grimm, age 47, 8814 Veto Road, Belpre, for using
a weapon while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. Grimm was arrested
at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Stackpole and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 4 Feb 06 at 12:30 pm.
Scott Justin Allie, age 20, 105 May Avenue, Northfield, OH,
for trafficking in drugs and for possession of drugs, both
felonies. Allie was arrested at Giant Eagle in Marietta by
Detective Nohe of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 4 Feb 06 at 3:30 pm.
James Phillip Vargo, age 21, 90 McCracken Road, Streetsboro,
OH, for trafficking in drugs and for possession of drugs, both
felonies. Vargo was arrested at Giant Eagle in Marietta by
Detective Nohe of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 4 Feb 06 at 3:30 pm.
