On 22 Jan 06 Laura Reynolds, age 42, 62 Cross
Street, Belpre, reported since last visiting her farm on State
Route 550 on 19 Jan, miscellaneous horse equipment valued at
over $1,300 was stolen from an unlocked barn. This case remains
under investigation (1090).
On 22 Jan 06 Deputy Sheriff Parks conducted
a traffic stop on State Route 550 after observing a vehicle
driven by John D. Horner, age 43, 5881 Veto Road, Belpre,
traveling 58 mph in a 45 mph zone. Deputy Parks noticed an
odor of alcohol
on Mr. Horner as well as an open beer bottle between the
truck’s
front seats. Mr. Horner admitted consuming ten beers over
the past few hours and performed poorly on administered field
sobriety
tests. As a result, Deputy Parks arrested Mr. Horner for
OVI and speeding and transported him to the Washington County
Jail.
On 22 Jan 06 George E. Kirkbride, age 62,
180 Harris Street, Newport, reported a neighbor informed him
that around 3:30 that afternoon he witnessed an unknown male
subject lurking about the outside of the residence. Upon further
inspection, Mr. Kirkbride noticed $200 missing from his wallet
that he left on the kitchen counter. This case remains under
investigation (1184).
On 22 Jan 06 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes issued
a citation to Richard C. Burky II, age 19, 2300 Manchester
Avenue SW, Massillon, OH, for traveling 88 mph in a 60 mph
zone. Deputy Rhodes stopped Mr. Burky on US 50 at State Route
618 in Belpre Township.
On 22 Jan 06 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes initiated
a traffic stop near milepost twenty-two on State Route 339
after observing a vehicle driven by Karin J. Long, age 39,
55 Albright Road, Beverly, travel left of the centerline. When
questioned as to her perceived inebriety Ms. Long replied that
she consumed four beers that evening. Following Ms. Long’s
poor performance on subsequent field sobriety tests, Deputy
Rhodes arrested her for OVI and driving left of center and
transported her to the Washington County Jail.
On 22 Jan 06 Christopher A. Carpenter, age
31, 1195 Sandhill Road, Marietta, reported he was inadvertently
shot in the head with a pellet gun when he attempted to sneak
up on several relatives who were firing the guns. Because the
projectile broke the skin but did not penetrate Mr. Carpenter’s
skull he did not require medical treatment other than antibiotics.
On 22 Jan 06 Sgt. Underwood was dispatched
to the scene of a domestic dispute involving Connie S. Barton,
age 29, and her live-in boyfriend Patrick A. Brannan, age 43,
at the couple’s residence at 150 Camelot Road Lot 11,
Belpre. Through witness statements Sgt. Underwood deduced Mr.
Brannan was the aggressor despite the presence of a cut to
his head. Sgt. Underwood determined the couple began arguing
and Mr. Brannan commenced throwing objects at Ms. Barton, ignoring
her pleas to stop. During the fracas Mr. Brannan also attempted
to choke his girlfriend and threatened her life with a large
butcher knife. Due to Mr. Brannan’s previous conviction
for the same offense he was charged with felony domestic violence
and transported to the Washington County Jail.

Joshua Lee Chapa, age 21, 2171 Millers Lane, Reno, for operating
with an expired or without an operator’s license, a misdemeanor.
Chapa was arrested on State Route 676 by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Jan 06
at 1:35 am.
Quinton Shane Sipes, age 29, 716 Warren Street, Marietta,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Sipes was arrested on Front Street by
Deputy Sheriff Parks and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 22 Jan 06 at 3:12 am.
Karin Jean Long, age 39, 55 Albright Road, Beverly, for OVI
and for driving left of center, both misdemeanors. Long was
arrested on Albright Road by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 22 Jan 06 at 3:50 am.
Aaron Francis Haney, age 20, 7885 Dille Road, Chesterhill,
for aggravated burglary and for intimidation, both felonies.
Haney was picked up at the county line by Patrolman Huffman
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 22 Jan 06 at 4:49 am.
Michael David Hatfield, age 44, 417 Woodrow Avenue Apt. 5,
Largo, FL, for receiving stolen property, a felony. Hatfield
was arrested at milepost six on Interstate 77 by Deputy Sheriff
Evans and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Jan
06 at 2:35 pm.
John David Horner, age 43, 5881 Veto Road, Belpre, for OVI
and for speeding, both misdemeanors. Horner was arrested at
milepost six on State Route 550 by Deputy Sheriff Parks and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Jan 06 at 8:10
pm.
Mandie Lee Hale, age 28, 2340 State Route 376, Stockport,
for theft, a misdemeanor. Hale was arrested at Quimby’s
bar by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 22 Jan 06 at 9:40 pm.
Patrick Alan Brannan, age 43, Smithfield Farm Road, Bay Minette,
AL, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Brannan arrested
in Marietta by Sgt. Underwood of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22
Jan 06 at 11:22 pm.
