On 5 Jan 06 Ella M. Newlon, age 58, 1185 Zion
Ridge Road, Marietta, reported receiving a phone call from
her son stating her former residence, a trailer on Lowell Hill
Road, was engulfed in flames. No injuries were reported, however
Ms. Newlon lost all property contained in the trailer. This
case remains under investigation (1203).
On 5 Jan 06 Deputy Sheriff Tornes requested
a summons for Cynthia A. Enochs, age 47, PO Box 171, Barlow,
for writing a bad check for fifty dollars to Electrotech on
14 Nov 05.
On 5 Jan 06 Ron Rummer, age 31, 11722 Veto
Road, Marietta, reported a Stihl cutoff saw, a hammer drill,
a Dewalt grinder and reciprocating saw, two roofing nail guns,
two framing nail guns, a Porta-Cable tool set and several electric
staple guns were stolen from a building site on Braun Road
in Belpre. This case remains under investigation (945).
On 5 Jan 06 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes conducted
a traffic stop on Interstate 77 after observing the vehicle
traveling 76 mph in a 65 mph zone. Detecting an odor of marijuana
in the vehicle, Deputy Rhodes called for Deputy Stackpole and
his canine Aboo. Aboo indicated the presence of drugs in the
vehicle and when asked, the driver Troy Davila, age 19, 10027
North Island Road, Grafton, OH, and passenger, Aaron Dorsey,
age 20, 34595 Dye Road, Columbia Station, OH, admitted there
was marijuana in the center console and side compartment. Deputy
Rhodes retrieved the two baggies containing small quantities
of marijuana and issued Mr. Davila and Mr. Dorsey minor misdemeanor
citations for possession of marijuana.
On 5 Jan 05 Deputy Sheriff Mankins encountered
an individual he believed to be under twenty-one years of age
exiting Starfire on Muskingum Drive with a case of beer in
each hand. When questioned, Jeffrey P. Rankin, age 19, 103
Country Place, Grafton, OH, admitted he was under twenty-one
and that the clerk did not ask for his identification when
he purchased the beer. Arrested for underage possession of
alcohol, Mr. Rankin was then transported to the Washington
County Jail. Deputy Mankins also requested a summons for Stephanie
K. Rowe, age 19, 127 Ohio Boulevard, Marietta, for selling
alcohol to an underage person.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Sonya Denise Coe, age 42, 1768 17th Street
SW, Bradenton, FL, for disorderly conduct by intoxication,
a misdemeanor. Coe was arrested on Cisler Drive in Marietta
by Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jan 06 at
4:10 am.
Jason Allen Daugherty, age 23, 4420 14th Avenue,
Parkersburg, for two counts of uttering and for forgery, all
felonies. Daugherty was arrested on Second Street in Marietta
by Patrolman Douglas of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jan 06 at
11:15 am.
Jacob Edward Mason, age 19, 50 Second Street, Vincent, for
driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Mason was
arrested on Interstate 77 by Deputy Sheriff Stackpole and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jan 06 at 11:15 am.
Charlotte L. Williams, age 62, 3204 Camden Avenue, Parkersburg,
for a felony charge of receiving stolen property and a misdemeanor
charge of failure to confine/restrain a dog. Williams turned
herself in to Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and was processed
into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jan 06 at 2:05 pm.
Shawn Gale Thomas, age 36, 121 Wells Avenue, Marietta, for
burglary, a felony. Thomas was arrested on Phillips Street
in Marietta by Patrolman Hively of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
5 Jan 06 at 3:50 pm.
Jeffrey Paul Rankin, age 19, 103 Country Place, Grafton, OH,
for underage consumption of alcohol, a misdemeanor. Rankin
was arrested at Starfire in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Mankins
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jan 06 at
5:55 pm.
John George Comsa III, age 51, 1111 County House Lane, Marietta,
for burglary, a felony. Comsa was arrested at his residence
by Detective Schuck of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jan
06 at 8:50 pm.
