On 17 Dec 05 a member of Center Valley Church,
75 McMahan Road, Newport, reported when he arrived for Christmas
dinner that evening he noticed a desk drawer was broken open
and fifty dollars in change missing from inside. This case
remains under investigation (500).
On 17 Dec 05 Sgt. Underwood and Deputy Stackpole
were dispatched to the scene of a domestic altercation at 845
County House Lane, Marietta. Upon their arrival, Donna Gilbert,
age 46, informed the Deputies she and her husband Ronald, age
41, argued over finances for a majority of the day. Mrs. Gilbert
stated she and her husband continued arguing in the smoking
room at the County Home and when she left the room to use the
telephone her husband punched her in the face. Resultant to
his actions, Mr. Gilbert was arrested for domestic violence
and transported to the Washington County Jail.
On 17 Dec 05 Deputy Sheriff Simmons assisted
the Pleasants County (WV) Sheriff’s Office in a hit-skip
traffic crash investigation involving a vehicle belonging to
Angela F. Pierce, age 29, 38215 State Route 7, Newport. Unaware
her vehicle was missing, Ms. Pierce stated she last saw her
vehicle the previous evening before going to bed and that it
must have been stolen sometime in the past five hours. Being
that Ms. Pierce did not have injuries commensurate with a crash
in which a vehicle rolled over three times Deputy Simmons determined
she was not the driver of the vehicle.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Melissa Jean Beagle, age 23, 1265 Leith Run
Road, New Matamoras, for failure to appear at a court ordered
hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Beagle was arrested
on State Route 7 by Chief Travaglio of the New Matamoras Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
17 Dec 05 at 3:14 am.
John Douglas Pugh, age 25, 105 Gilman Avenue, Marietta, for
two misdemeanor counts of domestic violence. Pugh was arrested
at his residence by Patrolman Huffman of the Marietta City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 17 Dec 05 at 4:40 am.
Marcus Allen Wayne, age 26, 309 Calder Ridge Road, Belpre,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Wayne was arrested at his residence by
Deputy Sheriff Malone and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 17 Dec 05 at 9:37 am.
William Joseph Beaver Jr., age 51, 712 Front Street, New Matamoras,
for failure to reinstate his operator’s license, a misdemeanor.
Beaver was arrested on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17
Dec 05 at 6:30 pm.
Ronald Wayne Gilbert, age 40, 845 County House Lane, Marietta,
for a felony charge of violating the terms of his probation
and a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence. Gilbert was
arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Stackpole and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 17 Dec 05 at 7:25 pm.
Matthew Kevin Burke, age 34, 1416 Hocking Road, Belpre, for
driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Burke was
arrested on US 50 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 17 Dec 05 at 11:05 pm.
