Archive of 11-22-05

On 22 Nov 05 an employee of Sponey’s IGA, 411 Fifth Street, Beverly, reported catching a fifteen year old Beverly student shoplift a can of smokeless tobacco. He stated the juvenile stood suspiciously near the tobacco rack, feigning reading a magazine, then slipped the tobacco in his pocket and purchased a soda on his way out of the store. The juvenile confirmed the eyewitness account and was issued a summons by Deputy Sheriff Evans to appear in Juvenile Court for being delinquent.

On 22 Nov 05 Deputy Sheriff Parks attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling northbound on State Route 821 near the intersection of State Route 60 after clocking the vehicle traveling 61 mph in a 45 mph zone. The vehicle failed to stop when Deputy Parks activated his emergency lights and siren and accelerated away. Approximately a half mile later the driver turned into a driveway, turned his lights off and stopped after passing between two vehicles. Once being read his Miranda Rights the driver, Joshua A. Martin, age 18, 681 State Route 821, Marietta, confessed that he intentionally fled from Deputy Parks because he was afraid he was going to receive a speeding ticket. As a result of Mr. Martin’s actions, Deputy Parks arrested him for speeding and for failure to comply with the order/signal of an officer and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 22 Nov 05 Vicky S. Fisher, age 52, 963 Tick Hill Road, Lowell, reported on 27 Oct 05 a tree trimming company contracted by her neighbor, cut the limbs of three trees, the trunks of which are on her property but in close proximity to property line between the two homes. This case remains under investigation (1091).

On 22 Nov 05, while attempting to locate Shaun A. Griffin, age 21, because he had an active warrant, Sgt. Hiatt spoke to a resident at Mr. Griffin’s last known address at 314 Harmar Street, Marietta. Inquiring to the individual that answered the door on Mr. Griffin’s presence at the home, Sgt. Hiatt noticed Mr. Griffin standing in the kitchen area. When Mr. Griffin failed to heed Sgt. Hiatt’s request to step forward, he absconded via a back door and a foot pursuit ensued. Three blocks later Sgt. Hiatt collared Mr. Griffin, arrested him for the active warrant and for obstructing official business and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

the Sheriff’s Office received the following warrants:

Benjamin Porter, age 39, 628 Front Street, Marietta, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on an order to show cause on 8 Nov 05.

Jonas W. Miller, age 22, 76 Hazlewood Road, Marietta, for contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on an order to show cause on 18 Nov 05.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Joshua Allen Martin, age 18, 681 State Route 821, Marietta, for speeding and for failure to comply with the order/signal of an officer, both misdemeanors. Martin was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Parks and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Nov 05 at 2:59 am.

Justin Michael Harris, age 21, Michaelis Road, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Harris was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Blasko of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Nov 05 at 4:36 am.

Janet Marie Gibbs, age 34, 210 Lancaster Street, Marietta, for domestic violence and for violating the terms of a protection order, both misdemeanors. Gibbs was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by Patrolman Douglas of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Nov 05 at 9:25 am.

Charles Franklin West, age 44, 320 Sixth Street, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. West was arrested at his residence by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Nov 05 at 5:30 pm.

Shaun Allen Griffin, age 21, 314 Harmar Street, Marietta, for driving under a suspended license and for obstructing official business, both misdemeanors. Griffin was arrested at his residence by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Nov 05 at 6:00 pm.

Roy Richard Workman Jr., age 37, 1576 Elizabeth Street Apt. C, Belpre, for theft, a misdemeanor. Workman was arrested in Belpre by Sgt. Hiatt of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Nov 05 at 8:40 pm.

Michael P. Hollingsworth, age 26, 513 Whites Road, Marietta, for possession of drugs, a felony. Hollingsworth was arrested at his residence by Detective Tilton of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Nov 05 at 9:55 pm.
